Alrighty, I had a odd run in with the cops. Heres the details. I was visiting a friend and going to pick him up to wish another friend a happy birthday. So we got our friend a airsoft rifle, its like a bb gun. Also my friend I picked up has some bad neighbors who reported us having a assault rifle and heavily armed? So when I drove down the road, a unmarked police car started following us, I didn't take much note. But about 1/2 a mile down the road he signals me to pull over. So I pull over and I decide ok I'll wait for him to come to my window to see whats wrong? Just then a state trooper car pulls up 100 feet away and this looks like a setup... They all got out and pulled thier firearm on us. Told me to raise my hands, I do... Told me to open the door slowly I do... Then bam the unmarked officer ran up behind the car and threw me out on the ground and cuffed me and the other police ran towards me pointing their firearms at me. (adding more details out of room)

I fully co-oped with them and see no reason why they threw me down. My friend had a better officer... he just stepped out and they cuffed him. After they was done pushing me around they asked about the gun, i told em we have airsoft gun in its box on the backseat and another in the trunk. They looked at the guns then uncuffed me and my friend. They did seem embarassed for not finding what was reported. He told me I wasn't under arrest and such. Also I was bleeding from them throwing me around and offered a ambluance to check me out, I refused and told them they can search the whole car but they kinda hurried off without even checking my friends ID or name. Almost like they knew they messed up.
Now I am wondering was the police surrounding me and my friend with 9mm and 45cal guns pointed right at us and the take down the one cop pulled on me when I was doing what they told me nessary? We are looking into legal action and would like any advice. The only intel they had was a fake phone C

Yes I am up to date on the airsoft gun laws. They was all cased and marked with the orange tips. I am just wondering if they went a little far with the intercepting car, guns, and taking me down. I gave them no problems at all the whole time. Just kinda makes me wonder, the cop told me he didn't want to take the chance of getting shot... I don't want to get shot anymore than he does over some crazy neighbor makeing false reports. XD

OK. Yes, they did seem to over-react to the situation, particularly if they were overly physical with you. The real blame should be placed on the neighbor who reported that you were "heavily armed". Please understand, I am not excusing rough treatment of anyone who finds themselves in a situation like you discovered yourself in. I just ask that you understand that the cops did not know what the situation was with you, and they had to make sure that you were contained in case you DID have weapons in your car. You can find, on any gioven day, a story somewhere about a cop who has gotten killed in just the situation you are describing where the guns were real. As a police officer you walk a real tight-rope between respecting the publics privacy and safety versus protecting the public at large and keeping yourself alive to go home to your family at the end of your shift. I'm sorry you got roughed up, probably should not have happened that way. We are trained to take control quickly and definitively where there may be weapons involved. Just sounds like maybe the officers in question were a little to enthusiastic in doing so. As for the whole Homeland security answer above, that's crap. I've been an officer for over 2 decades, and it's always been that way where the possibilty of weapons are concerned. The bottom line is, we don't want to get shot, or even shot at. Try and see the predicament the officer is in when it comes to that, and how you are treated.

Slick may have had a few good points .But once you had your hands up and the door open the only reason he threw you to the ground was because he got off on it and knew he could get away with it. You should file a formal complaint and make sure that it goes in his personnel file. Why be so naive as to think this is an isolated incident. You wouldn't be here if you didn't feel violated in some way. Also Slick strait out lied like a cop in saying that on almost any given day. Here are the facts in 2005 only 60 cops were shot. There are 365 days in a year. Of those 60 some were killed in training accidents and shot by other cops who just got trigger happy during raids. So I don't know where he gets that any day stuff but he definitely does not have the facts strait. I just looked this up for another question and have it in my notes. I have never heard of more then 80 cops being shot in a year. I did research some time ago for a book that I'm writing. That cop threw you solely because he could. It had nothing to do with safety.

This is Homeland Security
Martial Law, whatever you call it now.
Did your rifle have a red end on it? Must keep the red or orange end on any pellet gun, or any gun that is not real or they will shoot you thinking you are armed with real guns. had this prob with my 13 year old... cant play with fake guns, bb guns or any guns anymore like we used to as kids.... get rid of it.... no recourse for you... they thought you were armed... everyone is on a watch now... everyone every citizen.... martial law by the people..... take care... sorry for the rough and dangerous experience you had. let others know about the gun thing... best not to have any...

Do you know how many fcriminals pretend to be cooperative??? they were protecting their own asses and those of the poeple around....They believed they had enough cause to do what they did to you and considering that they didntharras you after finding out the truth you shouldnt bring the police to court.....they're actions were justified.....you should however press charges fro filing a false report and stuff like that against your friends assinine neighbors....a recorded phone call mesage or email from them proving they new they were giving false information to the police....

If a guy or woman lies approximately rape (enable's interior the interest of equality, not point out gender) there are particularly some crimes they're committing. So throw the e book at them. that is dropping police time, slander, libel, defamation of character - regardless of.
