if and when you sign up the choice of whether you want to go or not is out of the wall. There is no choice. The only real decision that you can make while in the army is the dicision to enlist and re-enlist. You have no chose on whether or not to go to iraq or not. Wants you sign those papers you sign your life away until your contract is over. You sign the paperwork you will do everything that they might need or ask you to do. So if you are thinking about signing up for the military I suggest you know what exactly you want. Let it be known if you dont want to go to Iraq please do not sign the papers.

When you sign up, you sign up for a specific job (Military Occupation Specialty = MOS). That you may go to war is part of the package.

And, no. You cannot enlist just to go to war, and then get out when the war is over. (I had that question asked while I was a recruiter)

Hey, signing up for the military is not signing up for war. You're signing up to protect and serve your country's honor and freedom. Come hell or high waters, when your country needed your service to defend its freedom, then you have to do it and war is in no way its prime objective or goal. If you signed up in the military just for war, then the military is better off without you.
