cong=Communist

So basically they were called the Vietnamese Communist.

They called themselves the People's Liberation Armed Forces.

Viet Nam Cong San means Vietnamese Communists. My friend Green Beret Colonel Roger Donlon won the 1st Congressional Medal of Honour in Vietnam in July 1964, fighting the VC.
