When i put a clip onto the timeline, it plays the audio but not the video! (i'm definately putting it in the video line!) i think somethings happened to my video drivers because now when i download a music video to get clips from, windows media, real media and itunes all cannot play it, they either say error: encountered a bad file or something similar to that! and when i get microsoft help, it just tells me to check the sound device (r/click my computer >> manage etc) Anyone know whats going on or had similar problems?

That sounds like a codec problem. Many times, when you are missing a codec, you can either not play the file at all, or can only hear the sound. Download the XP Codec Pack from this site. You should be able to play the files correctly:
