My last day was April 23rd, but still no P45. Or outstanding holiday pay for that matter, although that has been promised for this month...

I get the feeling they are either messing me about or are more incompetant than I thought they were!!!

It depends when they do their payroll. If it's monthly then you will have to wait until after the next one. They can't withhold it for any reason so make sure you keep in touch with them about it and ask them when you can expect it

Your P45 should legally been handed to you on your last day. As the new company (if any) you have gone to work for, will have put you on an Emergency Tax Code - which means you end up payine 2 or 3 times more tax than you need to. The Tax Office (through your new employers) will be able to put pressure on and if necessary take legal action on them for tax advoidance.

Depends when they run the Payroll - most places will sort out final pay etc. when they run payroll after you leave (some will process it when you give notice, however since your Boss might convince you to stay or allow you to leave early, most will wait untill after you have actually left).

If they are totally disorganised, it's just possible (but highly unlilkley) that 23rd April was too late to get included in May payroll ..

Thus I would expect to see it in May payroll = and if they normally pay 'last day of the month' you won't see it untill 31st May.

Sounds like you were getting paid monthly, in which case you should receive you P45 with your final pay slip including your holiday pay. Your holiday pay is part of your salary and is subject to tax therefore this information has to be used for your payment and tax details which appear on your P45.

Yep they're messing you about. Takes a minute to do and unless theres a tax or pay problem they can give it to you before you leave. They cannot do this legally. Maybe a letter would do the trick, if not i know some geezers.......good luck
