I recently bought a 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis GS. List price is 24,800. There is a rebate of 6000 and a factory-to-dealer incentive of 1000, which the dealer will pass on to you to make the sale. Then you should be able to easily get the dealer to give a discount of about 800. This brings your price down to about 17000. If you are a member of the military, a college student (or recent grad) or a member of the American Quarter Horse association (join online for $35/year), you qualify for another 500 rebate. These can be combined if you qualify for more than one. If you currently own a Mercury Sable then you qualify for another 1000 owner loyalty rebate. It's a great car at a great price - the third one I have owned. See owner reviews at www.edmunds.com

You're gonna have to be more specific on what you want in a vehicle. Most normal ones are under 25K. If it was up to me I'd do:
Car-Honda Civic,
SUV-Toyota Rav 4,
Pick-up-Toyota Tacoma.

I'm thanking in your situation, MPG's will be important to you over the long term. I know you want sporty and all that, but repair cost, dependability, and mpg affect you everyday $$ and time. The Honda Civic EX is a great car, I like the Mustang too!,...Have fun SHOPPING and test Driving! EDIT: If the quality of the GM is as bad as the "GM Customer Svc" Commenter's English, ya might want to go with the Ford or Honda :)

A Ford Focus hatchback. Even if it was modified to go 140 mph like the ralley car, I think it would still be under $25,000.

Like someone said you may need to be more specific with your requirements. I purchased a Mazdaspeed 3 fully loaded for 24,000 drive out and that is within your price limit. It's a quick car that can hang with most sports sedans because of its suspension and high horsepower and that's what matters to me, but may not matter to you.

SATURN AURA!
Don't laugh. You'll never believe it's even a Saturn. For 25K, you get leather, sunroof, and those fancy things, plus they drop the same engine in it that powers the Cadillac CTS.
