If you found it on private property, it belongs to the owner of the property. Anywhere else, it should be reported to the police, in which case, you'll probably get it back in a month or so and it's legit.
Or you can start spending it and hope it's not traceable to something illegal.

Spend it. Just kidding it would depend where you found it. If you found it while digging in your yard then I would keep it. But if you found it while walking, like if it had fallen out of a car then turn it over to the police or put an ad in the paper. If nobody claims it, then you can keep it.

thats a tough one,,,I would keep it! I think??? Gosh. Or would I. Because i would worry about trusting anyone to tell the truth if you contacted the previous home owners...Im glad i dont have to make that choice!!! good luck!

Hand it to police and expect somebody will come and appreciate your honesty. Or search the place and locate the owner and hand it to him. That will fill you with happiness and make you proud.

It depends where you discovered it. Do you know who it belongs to? Then you must return it. I you actually really found it and did not steal it, and there is no way to tell who it belongs to , I'd keep it.

I would return it to its rightful owner or at least the police. You can claim it later if the owner never show up.

It's mine, thanks for finding it, I've been looking for that for weeks. I'm offering a reward for safe return.
