Freedom of Speech is a right, under the American Consitution. People became so vocal in their condemnation of the (undeclared) war in Vietnam because it was their right to speak up and challenge the so-called "Best and Brightest" politicians who should have stayed at managers at Ford Motors instead managing the Body Count for the "Five O'clock Follies."
Do I need to support the Constitution, or the right to speak out and challenge political leaders from ANY party? Do I need to remind you the Vietnamese people were fighting a war of Nationalism, with the goal of uniting their country?
Did Vietnam under a Communist government ever threaten the security of the U.S.A.? Now the "Dominoes" have fallen, or some are still standing up - is Asia any worse off for it??

Maybe they're just listening to the actual people who took part in it or were involved in it somehow. When you hear people like Jane Fonda saying that 'we can't win the war with Iraq cos it's an unjust war, like the one with Vietnam was', then you start thinking about it and possibly learning the truth. When a young person sees pictures of Vietnamese children being put on fire/shot in the head and running for their lives, they don't forget the expression on their faces and - of course, they don't want to be responsible for justifying it. Rightly so.

Because they only hear one side, repeatedly. All they know is what politicians say and what they learn in school. Most of today's politicians don't know where Vietnam is, let alone have any military experience. Most teachers don't have military experience, and very few teach anything that is not in the books.

Most Vietnam vets don't talk of their experiences. They are older people that belong to clubs such as VFW, Elks, Masons, etc, that have an extremely limited number of younger members.

Younger folks have a tendency NOT to listen to the older folks, and believe they know it all. (We've all been there)

one thing they have only heard one side of the viet Nam war. one thing Nam vets were labeled baby killers. due to the half truths the news media put out after Nixon took office. the whole story is that the viet con would strap bombs on a child's back and detonate by remote killing both child and GI and others at the same time. the news media is doing the same thing again. plus instead of letting the generals and admirals that were there run the thing the politicans wanted to run the war from state side; just like the democrats do now.

The protests were due to the drastic cutback in student deferments from the draft that took place in the late 1960's.

Back in the past they exposed they were having communication problems with misinterpretation, miscommunication, communication failures and communication break-down living in misery out there.
That misery went un-noticed and the mystery of us-911 expose what it was all about out there.
At that time we don't even know what went wrong.
After the mystery of us-911 only then have the answers for it.
When little horror chucky and the were-wolves expose "How we don't talk anymore" living in misery out there.
The blunders and slip-ups with human errors created back in the past in messing up the education system out there.
