The plants and facilities are/were in Long Beach, Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, Anaheim, Culver City, Torrance, Cypress, etc. Douglas and Boeing merged (Boeing wanted the fighter aircraft divisions in St. Louis and Arizona.)with Douglas one fine Sunday morning. Employee newspaper read "Going Boeing". Of course parts are available for various Douglas aircraft operated throughout the world. Boeing proceeded to stop the MD-80/90 production line and promote the 737 line, even bringing two of these jewels (nightmares) to Long Beach for final production. Hunt Bch builds the space station; Culver City produced helicopters. Other sites here focused on finance, accounting, and aerospace production. Long Beach is building the Air Force C-17. The biggest stab in the back occurred when McDonnell Douglas, the UAW union officers and others decided to lay off thousands of its members in 1995 and hire non-union people off the street and give them those jobs. It defied 8 decades of union philosophy.

McDonnell Douglas no longer exists, they merged with Boeing in 1996. There were plants in Long Beach and Huntington Beach.

Check the Boeing website for exact locations.

McDonnell Douglas was bought out by Boeing in 1997.
The plant you're thinking of is right next to Long Beach Airport (LGB).
The plant is still there, but the only plane produced is the USAF C-17 cargo plane
