Because Pascal's Wager is idiotic?

Even back when I was a fundie Christian I knew better than to use Pascal's Wager. It has to be one of the worst reasons to believe in a god, it's like hedging your bets. But don't you think a god would be pretty disappointed maybe even pissed that you simply believed in him because you didn't want to go to hell?

Because it's fundamentally flawed. First and foremost, "faith" (I don't consider this true faith, hence the quotes) that is had for the sole purpose of 'playing the odds' is something that only an incredibly stupid god (and would we call such a creature 'god'?) would fall for. You think ******** GOD wouldn't be able to tell the difference between real faith and lip service?

"Do you really mean to tell me the only reason you try to be good is to gain God's approval and reward, or to avoid his disapproval and punishment? That's not morality, that's just sucking up, apple-polishing, looking over your shoulder at the great surveillance camera in the sky, or the still small wiretap inside your head, monitoring your every move, even your every base thought." --Richard Dawkins

My version, which is as good as anyone's, is this: I am God, and will reward with paradise anyone who has the sense to doubt My existence, which for reasons of My own, I have chosen to hide; but all those who foolishly believe in nonsense, rather than using the intelligence that I have given them, I shall consign to the fire. (I suggest that you wear your Nomex pajamas.)

Because it would be a lie... I'd know deep in my heart that I'm lying just in case... and I'm pretty sure that if there IS a god, he'd know I'm lying as well. And if I'm lying just in case... I'm pretty sure an all-knowing god would see through the ruse.

Because it has no limits.
Which god does it apply to?
Why take the chance that Ra isn't our lord?
Why take the chance that Allah isn't our lord?
Why take the chance that Odin isn't our lord?
Why take the chance that Zeus isn't our lord?
Why take the chance that Ahura Mazda isn't our lord?
Why take the chance that .......well, you get the picture.
Where does the argument end?
If one is valid, then they all are.
That's one of the reasons why its so silly.
