I'd go with an oatmeal color. In the future you may want to change colors in your room and the oatmeal color will go with any color you choose.

The blue sofa goes great with a polished wood floor. Red tasseled Indian pillows from Cost Plus, go great with yellow beige pillows. You can buy a brick red or light overcast blue throw rug to give it a balanced look.

A wooden coffee table would accentuate it better. If you must decor the sofa surroundings with Nautical decorations.

Blue carpet with shades of gray. That's what my parents have and they have a checkered blue sofa. Very nice. Pillows I would say yellow or red to make it "pop."

Most colors will work with blue, depending on your other decorations (wall hangings, lamps, tables, etc.). Blue and orange are complimentary colors, but different shades of red, green, yellow, and even neutrals like brown, black, or grey will coordinate. I think you should go with whichever colors you enjoy or whatever you think looks the best - Its all about personal style!

Find a color wheel and it will show you what colors. Yellow is blues opposite so yes yellow goes. Now a days, one of the great joys in decorating is color coordination. They don't have to match. Various shades of reds, yellows, greens and many more.
