Don't say "it arose". That's not a process, that's a conclusion.
Since equilibrium causes all things to come to follow their entropy gradient and remain in situ until disturbed again, there is no naturally occuring cause that would bring varying substances together to become more complex or "come alive".

Happy Kid: You can make it hot and make it cold for eternity, and all you'll do is cook it and freeze it, but you're not going to make it alive. That's not an explanation, that's a very weak stab.

Seattle74,
Great point! If your "big bang" created hydrogen, how did hydrogen get more complex to form more the atoms of more complex elements?

rhsaunders,
Open system/closed system, it doesn't matter. The addition of energy can only further disintegrate, it will never cause an increase in complexity. Gee 100 years and no proof for evolution from fossils yet. Get smart and abandon that bankrupt theory.

The word you are searching for is creation? The one true and living eternal God created life.

We do not know the details of the original creation of life, but what you are referring to as 'equilibrium" is actually "entropy". But it is erroneous to suppose that entropy limits growth of complexity; that would be the case in a closed system, but the earth is not a closed system: it gets radiation from the sun, sufficient to deal with any entropy issues. In life, complexity arises from natural selection, which will tend to perpetuate any variant with an advantage. Evolution, which has been established science for a century (meaning that it works), is a proven fact.

wow, i guess Jesus is the only way to heaven.
The main problem is that if not for crazy religions, we would be honestly trying to figure this out. But instead people pick political sides and have conclusions before all the facts are in. That isn't the way to get better as a society.

There was disturbance- change in temperature.
Edit: Actually, the temperature change allows it to react with surrounding particles when it couldn't at the previous temperature. It makes all the difference.

Can you please provide more information on how you came to the conclusion that Equilibrium prevents matter from becoming more complex.
EDIT:
No need to insult, I provided you the courtesy of not instantly just blowing you off, if as you say equilibrium prevents matter from becoming more complex I want to know how you came to know this.

I can't pretend to know, but it sounds like you are making an argument that "creation" of some sort is a necessary piece of the answer...

You go by the name wise guy, but you obviously are pretty dumb when it comes to science. What you say is about as smart as what that moron cameron said last night on nightline.
