I want to go to a church on Sunday but I don't know which denomination I should choose. Which one do you go to and what makes it great? Thanks in advance.

Non-denominational Christian

Christian denominations, they all believe in Jesus, but think that different parts are more "important".

Charismatic vs evangelical.
Charismatic believe the Holy Spirit is alive & well, and still active in the world.
Evangelicals believe the Bible is the living word of God, and direct intervention stopped when the last apostle died.

Part of the reason for different churches is that you've got a whole lotta different people. Do you know someone who regularly attends a church? If you like & respect that person, tag along for a couple services, try it on. If the fit is good, get involved. If not, try another. If your not experiencing a deeper level of relationship with God, most likely it's a bad fit.

Good luck

Mormons are not classified as a Christian denomination, as they believe we all, (well, all the good male Mormons), are potential "gods"
Look it up.

I'm no authority but there are differences mainly because all people don't like the same thing. God uses and allows different denominations because He'll use what the individual believer needs in order to be drawn into the kingdom of God.
As long as the essential message is the same (salvation by faith alone through Christ alone, Jesus is God and part of the Trinity, good works are a sign of a person's true conversion, and others I can't remember) it doesn't really matter if people speak in tongues or not, whether they believe in infant baptism or not, whether they are emotional or unemotional in Sunday services.
There are differences such as whether salvation can be lost once obtained, whether women can serve as ministers, how often communion needs to be served. All this is mere human contentiousness because God knows what His way is and His mind can never be changed. However differences in opinion in these kinds of doctrine won't keep anyone out of Heaven.

nicely, the Roman Catholic church is the only denomination headed by way of the pope. it is likewise the only church which could hint it is roots good right down to Jesus whilst he made Peter the top of his church. Pope Benedict is the main contemporary in this succession. different denominations have broken off from the Catholic church at numerous circumstances for the duration of background, generally for completely valid reasons. The Lutherans have been given began whilst i've got self assurance it replaced right into a guy named Martin Luther nailed up a catalogue of demands on the church door sooner or later around the 1600's. He replaced into upset because of the fact on the time the church replaced into performing greater like an overbearing government than a church. a minimum of that's what i've got heard, i'm not Lutheran so I apoligize if I screwed something up!

I'm still just visiting different churches and haven't found one to call my own yet. I like Christian Women's Club because it's all denominations, and the women there are so nice and they don't judge you based on your denomination. And we have Bible studies and fellowship. It's good for someone like me who hasn't found a church home yet, because I'm able to be with other Christians and make those connections that you normally would get at Church.

I also found this website where you can get sermons on your computer through Itunes. I like to listen to them. It is from Calvary Chapel or something like that.

I've been to Methodist, Nazarene, Baptist, and inter-denominational.

I think you should just go where you feel the Spirit is leading you.

I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It is a wonderful church centered around God, Jesus, and their teachings.
There is no judgment there, and it is the only church where I've truly felt welcomed and accepted.

However, I do have a suggestion for you...
As much as I would love for you to come to the church, I only want to bring you into a situation where you'd be comfortable. I mean, even in the most loving and peaceful situation you can feel uncomfortable and confused if you don't agree with them or feel uncomfortable with there teachings. I suggest you pray about it, and read about it.
Also, there's this great test...
go to www.beliefnet.com and on the gold bar you'll see Faiths & Practices. Move your cursor over it and underneath it you'll see a list of subheader's pop up, the second one is Belief-O-Matic. Click on it. I know it sounds corny and what-not, but trust me it works. It had me pegged completly. I answered the questions, and it said that I was 100% Mormon, which I am.

The best thing you can do is pray and ask God where He wants you to go...even if it's just for this one Sunday. There may be something He wants you to learn, even it's not the church you end up joining. Good luck and God bless!

The differences between Christian denominations is all a matter of interpretation of scripture. Therefore, if you really want to attend church, pick one where you feel comfortable and one that seems to have a lot of people who display the characteristics of Christ. Love, acceptance, forgiveness, understanding...obedience to God's laws etc. Do go...but don't get hung up on the interpretations. God is God...Jesus is Jesus. The rest is window dressing more or less.

The differences are easy to explain...man. That's it. Man has divided up the Word of GOD and come up with different details. What really matters is that you find a Church that believes that Jesus is our Savior and that HE is the Only Begotten Son of GOD. The ONLY way to Heaven is through this "door", so to speak. Read the Bible (start in the book of Romans.)
Personally, I belong to an Assembly of GOD Church but I have fellowship with the Church of GOD and with Christian Churches and Baptists. I am a believer. I hope you find the place that GOD wants you to be in soon. Open your heart and let HIM show you the way.

I don't believe in denominations it separates Gods people but i do believe God does have people in every denomination so it is up to you pray about it and see what God lays on your heart, God did start me out in a pentecostal church when he saved me but his word taught me he puts us tutors and governor's until the appointed time of the father so he pulled me out and I'm doing his work in the field for the harvest sort to speak.

I attend a non-denominational church called Calvary Chapel. They teach only the Bible, no man made rules about joining a church or appearing before a committee to get their approval. Only what the Bible says, nothing more, nothing less. You'll be in my prayers as you search.

Lots of differences exist, such as whether or not salvation is permanent, whether or not there is free will, the age of accountability, and what constitutes sin.

Since there are over 100 flavors of Christianity, it would probably be best to look up churches in your area and look up their denominations online. I hope that helps. :)

The difference in demonination is Mans rules. You choose a church based on your wants.
No church is perfect as it is made up by people and the base of the christian faith is that we are not perfect.

There are quiet churches with organs and hymns and churches which are louder with drums and guitars.

So don't feel embarresed to shop around and find something that fills your needs and that you could see yourself serving in.
