I am fed up with the tv getting louder when the commercials come on. It is very annoying and I know something can be done but what?

If the television channel had better audio control the sound levels would be more consistent, but there may be some design to this--they may be intended to be louder to get your attention, which obviously is what's happening.

Contact the channels that offend and let them know you don't like it. Chances are they won't change anything, but you will have let them know how you feel. You can also mute the channel during commercials.

I don't watch much TV.
I recall seeing a commercial for SHOUT brand paper towels, that said things along the lines of, "Don't you just love to hear people SHOUT", it was a very loud commercial, and it annoyed me.. I normally mute the TV during commercials..
Oh by the way, I'll never buy shout again!

Yes. I've noticed that too. Try the mute button. I usually have a book or play a game on my PDA when the commerical comes on. I tune out.

This is another reason why I record shows that I'm going to watch on my DVR.... so that I can skip through commercials.
