I agree that it is a stretch to explain fossils. It's tough to explain a world that "looks old" but is only "supposed" to be 6000 yrs old (or whatever number you want to use).
I believe that God created the world over geologic time. That 6 'days' means 6 steps, or that the Genesis story is an allegory - as is much of the Bible anyway.
That is far preferable to me over the idea that God make a fake world in 6 days that was designed to look old. That kind of deception does not sound like the God who I know.
How He did it is not as important as the fact that He did it and why He did it.

who ever suggested this is wrong
we arent completely aware of all Gods doings but it seems feasable that many other things went on in the make up of the world. The universe isnt all about us and Im sure god has many mechanism and laws we still arewnt completely aware of. The Bible (and other related scriptures ) are all about the way God deals with man and how we relate back to him. Not about the history of the world as many religioous sects , evangilists would have us blindly believe

It is not our place to question why He does something, since we most likely couldn't understand the answer. This is why He asks us to have faith in Him. The Lord moves in mysterious ways.
PS: This doesn't mean that I believe this - just that it's as viable a hypothesis as any other.
PPS: Another idea is that "to the Lord, a million dollars is but a penny; a million years, but a second", which would imply that creating the world in a day (in God-time) equals 86,400 seconds @ 1,000,000 years per second, which means that the world was created in 86.4 billion years. Does this number suit you guys better? It's all just conjecture, anyway.
PPPS: ChurchLady, you're saying that Satan has the capacity to create - doesn't that make you a heretic? Personally, I believe that only God has that ability.

Although not a scientist, I would have to disagree with that assumption. As a Christian, I have first hand knowledge of God's existance and his power so I have no doubt that he created everything. The whole deal about fossils is that their age is based on a faulty system of date setting...i.e. carbon dating. For the scientific explanation, tune into www.thecreationnetwork.org. This group is comprised of noted scientists who have gone from believing in evolution to believing in creationism based solely on scientific data. There are dozens of other pro-creation scientific groups in the world and they are growing daily. One of their deductions is that the carbon dating method of determining age is highly inaccurate and not a reliable indicator of age. I will let them explain the science behind their conclusion.

Nope.
Either God created the world a billion years ago(which IS possible)
Or it was the big flood.

I don't have fossils.
God put them where?
Let's do a Scavenger Hunt to try to find these fossils. Let me know if you find them first!
If it is not GOD, someone's gotta put them there. Otherwise, how are we gonna find'em???
Well, maybe they got drowned in the FLOOD or something, anyway...

He was an ignorant Christian.
When he studies science for a while, he'll realize the Bible is right, and he's been listening to too many evolution mythology believers.
