No, this is not always true. Every man is an individual with individual motives. No one should be categorized into a group, especially an entire gender when dealing with subjective subject matter.

I'm sorry to say, Nomad is absolutely correct. Alot of guys are experts at contrived behavior which is specifically calculated to create a certain response, and I'm sure you can guess what that response is. If you can't, let me just say that it's not about his emotions as much as his physical short term needs. In advertising terms, it would be called 'transferrence' and 'association'.
Also women (and guys too to some extent) want pat phrases and actions that will allow them to check boxes in their minds that will tell them how a guy or gal is feeling - almost like taking a cosmo quiz. Guys know this about women. Unfortunately, some take advantage of it. I wouldn't, but I've seen guys I know in action. When they are armed with this info, and they find a woman that can't see through it, it's like shooting fish in a barrel. It's sad because their emotions are being manipulated with the end result being pain. I'm not saying you are in this category at all, because you were suspicious right away.
Let me ask you this: Did you want a puppy? Or, rather, do you want to raise a dog for at least 10 or 15 years? Do you want to pay vet bills, buy dog food, pay for a kennel whenever you leave town, and stay on top bathroom trips outside, socialization skills for the dog, and training?
Giving someone a dog is a massively huge presumptive and inconsiderate thing unless you have already indicated that you want one, and what type you want. It's just shy of finding a kid for someone to adopt and then dropping him/her off at their house and saying 'GOOD LUCK TO YOU BOTH!'
- Kevin
ps. for the record, saying he doesn't want a relationship and meaning it are 2 different things. If you were the break-upper and him the break-ee, maybe he is crazy about you - I wouldn't rule it out, but the pup is still contrived and presumptuous and of and by itself it's not symbolic of anything..

No it doesn't mean he is totally in love with you well put it this way he's not going to marry you tomorrow. I think he does love you though, because a guy doesn't just do something like that for someone he has NO feelings for so he does love you. It is kinda of a cute, big gift almost a little more then jewelry.

Men that do everything that entails a relationship but insist that they're not in one are game-players.
Enjoy the puppy and be nice to the guy, but keep the guy on a longgg leash. He gets no benefits or privelges until he comes clean, puppy or no puppy.

It just means he found a mutt and wanted to get rid of it.
Sorry. I love dogs, but just because a guy gives you one doesn't mean anything special.
In fact, I think it's rather presumptuous to give someone the gift of another living creature, without knowing if that person can take care of it properly, or has the time to devote to it.
That just me though...

He wants a dog and can't take care of it hisself, so he found you a pup to train. Congrats. You'll be cleaning and housetraining and living in chewed up underwear for the next 2 years.
Been there, done that, broke up/ left the dog there.

Texting lets you control the tone and establish what kind of conversation you want to have. Learn here https://tr.im/6Rtoy
This is probably the most important part. With texting, you can stop and think about what you want to say to your ex at each step of the way. Instead of reacting emotionally, you can take your time, figure out the right thing to say (I’ll give you most of it), and be strategic with your ex without saying something that you’ll regret.
