It is stated in the Vedas that if one takes intoxication, IE drugs,including prescription, and alcohol they can very easily be possessed by ghosts or demons. Also if one is in the mode of ignorance and associates with their lower nature or others of lower nature they are more susceptible to be possessed. Really you have to be responsible for own mind and stay in your higher self by avoiding all of the above. And always be in contact with God also known as Krishna,Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. Otherwise there is danger at every step in this world.Chant the holy names of God when ever in any difficulty. Possession, yes, demonic, hard to say, because I've yet to see proof of demons. Highly negative souls and entities, yes, but demons, not yet, so I'll reserve judgment on them.
I've had rather close dealings with someone who invited a rather negative entity to their service (not understanding the consequences), and in the end I watched it take almost complete control of this person.
This is why the non-adept should never dabble.

There is demonic possession as it was written on the bible. An evil spirit will enter the body of non believers of God and those who are doubting God, I mean not faithful to God.
I have met a possessed person and I have successfully drove the evil spirit from the body of that mankind who was possess by evil spirit through prayers in the name of Jesus Christ and it was written on the bible that the name of Jesus Christ be used.
I was not possessed by the evil spirit because I have faith in God and have always been praying to God. I am a religious man always reading the bible and always think of God as my Savior. I often pray to God of any help He can give me and always thankful for him.

interesting question, I have an interesting story, a friend of mine knew this young lady, she was having some life problems, he thought he and his wife should have her over to pray with her, he also invited an older more mature Christian man, when they started to pray she began talking in a strange voice, she told my friend what he had been looking at on his computer early that day, she was nowhere near his house, there was no way she should know, the older man started to rebuke the evil presence, after a while, she said that when she was young she was sexually abused and after each incident she felt something there, she remembers inviting "it" into her and she remembers a definite "thing" entering her
