ABC is in the Atheist frame of mind, tomorrow night 20/20 will have a 2 hour special on the story of a small town and heavy discrimination against Atheism, hopefully it will not be as biased as the "debate" they showed on ABC Nightline's: Face Off

"OKLAHOMA OUTRAGE," DISCRIMINATION
AGAINST ATHEISTS TOPIC OF ABC PROGRAM
This Friday, May 11, 2007 ~ Kagin, Smalkowski Family
WHAT: A special two-hour ABC Network program scheduled to air this Friday, May 11 will discuss prejudice against Atheists in America, particularly in the city of Hardesty, Oklahoma, where Nicole Smalkowski was expelled from public school on false charges when she refused to stand in a circle on the auditorium floor with the girls' basketball team and recite the "Lord's Prayer."

Actually, I can't watch it live, so I am going to record it. I hope it gives an accurate portrayal of what many of us deal with or have dealt with at some point. It sounds promising. Perhaps people will see it and realize that faith has nothing to do with being a good person.

No. If you are on a team you should do what the team does. I don't believe in god yet I aways got in the circle I didn't pray but unity is what a team is about and she apparently broke that. there is no prejudice against atheists there is only people looking for attention. Like with the pledge of allegiance its been this way for 200 + years and now because people don't believe in god they are going to have to change it. If you don't agree with it don't say prayers or talk about god but show some respect to the people that do and stand in a circle or stand for the pledge. This is ridiculous I am an atheist and I will not watch this "feel sorry for us" show.

Probably not. Mainly because mainstream media like 20/20 rarely gets the facts right, they are more concerned with how to push an agenda of one sort or another, while trying to appear neutral. ALL mainstream media does this.
Whatever they have to say will be biased one way or another ... their debate between Christians and Atheists was a joke. Absolutely nothing new was said.

Right, and ALL religious people are ignorant people. See I can use gross generalizations too :) OK, and after I read the story. To me it doesn't sound like indoctrination. It sounds more like they're teaching them about other religions and the motto they're regurgitating is not "I'm right and all other people are wrong" but "It's good to think for yourself" I'm a little disturbed by the collection plate and the book of songs, though. Very disturbed.

I didn't know about it, but I will definitely watch now that I do. And you are right about the "debate" on Nightline being biased; Martin Bashir deferred to the christians at every turn. It was a joke.

I will if Atheists give a reason according to their personal lives why there shouldn't be any God. It would be interesting to know why some people want to believe in nothing and why they don't need a God in times in needs and hardship in their lives. God has been very important through many centuries why no God now? Is it because people feel abandonned by faith or other positive sources in their lives. Even if people want to be more rational, we still have an emotional mind that need to be reassured sometimes.

Discrimination exists. Anyone who's different from a local majority opinion is subject to it.
Why watch yet another example of christian discrimination (those are the folks who firmly believe in their guy's teaching of love, respect, and tolerance, right)?

I don't really watch TV but I would watch it. No one should be forced to recite the Lord's Prayer if they do not want to. In fact, all religions should stay at of school.
