by fitting into certain clothes - if i dont fit in - im fat - if i fit in - i am ok.
by the way i feel - athletic and energetic or chubby and lazy.

By looking at multiple factors. Your BMI(body mass index) and your body fat percentage are a good to compare, because you can have a high bmi, but not have a lot of fat because muscle weighs more. There are multiple tests for body fat percentage out there, so don't just check BMI. There are even scales that do body fat percentage, weight, and BMI at the same time. They can cost any where from $40 to $100.

If your health is affected by your weight then it is time for action. However i am glad that you asked this question because i found out that there are many healthy foods that you can eat all you want to and if you try to eat only one meal a day it is even hard to lose weight. If you try to starve yourself then in time you will be much too thin and be very sick. Eat your vegetables and fruit and get the protein that you need. also some healthy foods like 100% whole wheat-corn bread etc. Find out what you need to eat to be HEALTHY. Talk to an expert on proper diets before even giving it a thought. There should be special books written on how to eat for children even before they go to school and healthy eating should be taught and practiced all through school. We need to stop thinking about every thing in extreme measures!

if your able to pinch more than an inch on ur stomache fat , that means you should shed maybe just 1 or 2 pounds
