Ever since I was very little, I wanted to go to a certain college. I was told by many that it wouldn't happen. They said it was too competitive and even if I tried, I would fail. I set out to prove them wrong. I tried and tried and prayed and prayed it would happen. Everytime I prayed I thought even more strongly that this was where God wanted me to go. After four long years of high school, I got accepted. Now, after all these years of trying, my parents tell me it won't happen. We can't afford it. I've filled out literally hundreds of scholarship forms. I've not received a single one except for a 7500$ a year scholarship from the school. This will no where near cover the 40000$+ a year fees. Why would God even let me get in, let me get SO close to fulfilling a dream I've had since childhood, then rip it away right from under me like a cruel childhood bully, laughing and mocking me? This is not the kind God I knew growing up as a Catholic child.

Why are you blaming God? Lets see He has taken you this far. God provides ways beyond our comprehension. You sound of little faith. Like the Jews in the desert. God got them out of Egypt. Parted the Red Sea. Provided them with food and water and shelter. And you still doubt His ways? Please put complete faith in Him. If it dont work out so be it. God has a plan to prosper you. And He will honor that. It may be a plan you never expected but it will be for the best. Peace out........

Patience. Know that God knew of your rant before you were even a little girl. You've come so far, and not everyone could be as focused as you were in those times leading up to now. All the sudden, when things don't seem to be going your way, you are seeing perhaps for the first time the reason why your pride wont serve you. Yes, pride.

You were humiliated, right? How will you ever get humble in spirit if you are not humiliated? So reapply yourself, get back up and stop acting like a victim. You have proven that you are blessed with smarts, now use what God gave you and overcome this. With God's help you will overcome this.

Little Darling,
Please don't sell yourself or GOD too short. There is still time for HIM to act in your behalf. I would go to the school and take your parent's income information with you. Speak with the financial aid people. They are generally experts at finding money that no one knows about. Keep praying. GOD also has a way of coming thru. HE did not "rip it away right from under me like a cruel childhood bully, laughing and mocking me". That is satan's way. Keep your faith and keep working to get in. I believe that you still can!! Have faith and let me know what you find out in the coming days. I really do CARE!

PS...
I also had no way of getting into the college that I had chosen but I graduated from there anyway.

Have a great weekend.
Dale

I had my own problems questioning why God would allow things to happen. I never really could understand how God could allow horrible things to happen to people. It caused me to turn away from God for a long time. Then I took a class in college, and I saw God in a whole different light. I realized that God isn't necessarily the cause of the bad things that happen to people. I suggest you read the book "When Bad Things Happen to Good People." This may help you see beyond how you feel right now and not lose the faith I lost in God for a long time. I'm sorry that you can't afford the college you want....I took out literally thousands and thousands of dollars in student loans...maybe you can too?

This is tragic but it is not the first time nor will it be the last. Do not give up hope and continue to strive for the best you can be.

It is the effort and the journey you will find your true self. What your made of - so to speak.

Stay with God, ask Him for insight and understanding.

Drop the Catholicism.

It teaches a brutal God and a lot pagan ideas. Making victims of it's adherents. Keeps you poor while it waxes rich.

Next go to work and save money while you get great grades where you can afford it.

All that time in the Roman church and what is it doing for you?

Money, I don't think is God's problem, that a human problem. God obviously gave you all the gifts required to get where you wanted to go, and you were accepted, great. Did you expected a money tree to grow in your yard as well?
As we know God works in mysterious ways, perhaps this isn't his plan, or perhaps you've got to do your part. Don't give up, keep praying, have patience - remember things don't happen in our time, but in God's time.
Don't give up on your dream, be pro-active, do the things you can do. Get a job, save some money, but please don't blame God because you want to go to a school that costs as much as what you mentioned. Man sets the price, not God. Like I said before, he's done his part by giving the intelligence and drive to succeed, keep striving and it will happen.
Who knows, maybe you'll be the next big lottery winner.
I honestly hope things work out for you. Sometimes we think we know what we want, don't get them and in the big picture were spared alot of grief. It's happened to me more than once in this lifetime, and yes, thank God.

Have you considered the possibility that God has nothing to do with the misfortune you're experiencing? Thou shall not tempt the Lord They God.

We are entitled to dream, but not necessarily entitled to the realization of dreams. Likewise, we are entitled to pray to God, but we are not necessarily entitled to the answer of our choice.

Every prayer is answered by God. The answers are one of the following, "Yes.", "No.", or "Yes, but not yet." What you interpret to be a "no" answer could very well be a "not yet" answer. The day may come when you will go to school at the institution of choice. You might have to wait longer than anticipated, but the day may still come. Then again, the answer may be a flat "no".

I had a childhood dream of becoming military officer. However, I developed a medical condition that, of course, made this dream impossible. So I know what it's like to have a childhood dream go unfulfilled due to circumstances beyond control.

God knows what's best for us. What's best for us, from God's point of view, may not appear to be what's best for us from our point of view.

God never wills bad things to happen, but He does allow bad things to happen? Why does He do this? God has a Way of bringing good into the world through bad things. If it is God's Will that you do not go to school at the institution of your choice, that - in a Way known only to God - will make you a better Christian.

Your parents did/do what's best for you even though sometime I'm sure you would disagree. But hopefully you accept their authority because you know they love you and are looking out for you.

We call God "Father" as He is the Ultimate Parent. God is looking out for what's best for us as well. While we might not understand why, we must learn to accept His lessons as they will help make us better people.

Just out of curiosity, have you considered paying for the balance via student loans?

God is not bullying you. Maybe there is a reason why that you do not yet know. Maybe he wants you to search harder for a way to go. Maybe there is a lesson involved.

At my place of employment, I have a young intern in her first year of college. Lovely girl, she works for $8.00 an hour through the summer and when she comes back for holidays.

When she comes back, it is at her boyfriends house that she stays. Her father lives out of town and is disabled, has no money to help her at all. Her mother has spent all of her college tuition that WAS provided in earlier years for her by her father. Her mother has also kicked her out of the house in her senior year of High School becaue the young lady talks to her father on the phone, and it angers her mother because she is full of hate for him. She applies for scholarships as well, but hasn't received anything significant, like you. She knits scarfs and sells them for money to feed herself, and other inexpensive crafty ideas that will make her enough money to eat. She also lines up babysitting jobs near the University that she attends. She has had to take out STUDENT LOANS, which are available to you as well. Yes, you will need to pay these back after you graduate from college, hey. nothing is free. This is the same way that my sister put herself through college. She mowed lawns for money for food. She has since paid back her loans on a teachers salary (which isn't all that great compared to corporate jobs).

If you really want it, you will go the extra mile. You may have to be creative for yourself, but God will take care of you if you have true faith in him. He didn't say you could sit back and be pampered, he didn't promise an easy way to everything. Try praying for guidance with a new heart instead of something being handed to you.

Sorry if I sound harsh, but it is not God that is stopping you, it is yourself. God gave you a brilliant mind, use it!

I am Catholic, but I don't think that this was God doing this or allowing it to happen. Something about the human race is free will. I think that God lets things be, and just supervises. If he COMPLETELY controlled everything, everyone would be perfect, there would be no crime, etc etc. This whole situation just means that you should try even harder now to get into this college. Check federal financial aid. FAFSA is a good thing and can help out most families, even ones that produce large incomes. Just keep trying, and you'd be surprised at how many scholarships and grants you could get outside of your high school.

Don't blame God for this. You wanted to go so badly and knew it would be expensive. Money doesn't just drop out of nowhere. Maybe you need to work for a year and save money then go. Look into programs for certain races. I am Indian and in Michigan I go to school free.ask the school for all the programs they have to offer. Is there a women's center there that can help? God didn't rip this away from you... you can still go, but have to raise the money

we cant began to understand why God does the things He does. Hes on an entirely different level that we are. but he did tell us that "all things come together for good to those who love the Lord". God has a plan for you, it may not involve the school you want. if your still praying, really praying and listening to God and not you, and you still think that God wants you to go to this school, then apply for student loans. but make sure you major in a field of work that will pay for the loans. although, you may have to ask God again where he wants you to go. just keep faith, you dont have to understand God, and you dont have to like what He does. King David questioned God all the time. He thought that God had abandoned him.
