people usually reveal themselves by their answers anyway, but it doesn't really hurt anyone that a questioner lets the community know they are looking for informed answers and will ignore frivolous or ignorant responses

Because they like logic..If x=y and y=z than x=z. Or, maybe it is because science is so boring they all need to find their answers elsewhere.
