Ashes to ashes. If it is the ashes following a cremation, they are put into a sealed urn, if they are to be kept. If they are to be scattered, I think they make the urn easier to open. Urns come in many forms, with different shapes, although they are about 11 to 12 inches high, at least five inches in radius, and some are plain marble, some are carved, some are decorated metal, and almost all are heavy. Some are square and can be engraved like a headstone, and many are vase shaped, with a velvet lined domed lid.
I don't want to be disrespectful, but many people keep the ashes they have from the fireplace in the house (these are working fireplaces which actually provide heat and are used normally for three seasons of the year) in a brass bucket with a handle. It can be copper, with a handle, although it is a preference. This normally doesn't have a lid, and is emptied every two to three days.

An urn. You can get them on e bay or at garden ridge. something like a ginger jar. You can seal the top with hot wax or super glue so it won't come off. I have used metal containers and sealed the tops for some of my ashes with good results.

Yeah pretty much, the ashes are in a plastic bag inside of the container.

I actually want MY ashes put into a plaster cast of my own skull. My brother wants to make sure that I die before him so he can make sure that that doesn't happen. :P
Am I the only one who thinks that would make for a good final joke? Having my ashes in a recreation of my own head sitting on my family's fireplace mantle?
