I have been in a relationship with a man who I really believe in my heart is jealous of how succesful and independent I am without a man to help me. I work full time, mow my own yard, pay my own bills, own 2 cars, a house and a really neat dog. I get the oil changed in my own car, have my own savings and bank accounts. Raised a really neat son and daughter alone with no support. I pay my own bills and make a very good living. I set up my own retirement account. Keep everything running smoothly and I feel like he would love to see me fail.
I think he is waiting for me to fall on my face. Have you ever felt that way about another person?

I'm not sure if he wants you to fail so much as he may want you to depend on him for things. I'm sort of in that same situation. I have always been independent. I worked in a male dominated career, I'm raising a child alone. I have my own money, car, land, and I'm waiting for a house to be built. I can handle my own. My friend told me I act like I don't need him. Maybe if you allow him to do a few things for you and show that he is needed his attitude will change.

Yes. He ended up cheating on me and we broke up. I'm still going strong. He has made some strides, but has lots of regrets. I had most of the things you mentioned above, but lost them all in Hurricane Katrina. I had people who were glad because they were jealous. I have not totally reestablished myself, but I'm getting there. All I can say is... You go Girl!
Don't let anyone or anything steal your joy. If your man's jealousy gets out of hand, it's time to leave. Sometimes it's for the best because you are blocking the real man who is suppose to be in your life. One who will support you and encourage to reach for the stars and beyond. A smart man will realize this is a great characteristic to have in a mate and life partner. Together, you both can have an amazing life.

Best wishes,

you did not say what make you feel that way about your present relationship? Did he say something to you or just do not root for you in your achievments, whatever you have done so far is commendable on your part, but do not add more to what it really is or should you ask yourself the question( why have I achieved all these things?)Your children should come first and if you remember what got you there in the first place you will know where to draw the line and weed out the deadbeats ,good luck
