Morkie, I appreciate what you have to say on this subject, but their is great danger in what your saying. I have found myself greatly surprised at how the word of God can give direction on every issue of life. Even human cloning of which I know very little about.I do know that man was created in the image of God, and it makes me wonder who's image the clone is created in.

Truthunt, secular man made laws are below the laws of God and not above. If you claim to be a Christian and brake the laws of man your no christian at all, but a hypocrite.

The Carm... Your answer can certainly be applied. But God is bigger than you realize.Where sin abounds, grace does much more abound. It is not the doctrines that save us, but the precious Blood of Christ and a sincere heart that desires His will.We are all different in someway and that is the reason behind so many denominations.Being one in Christ doesn't set me in some mold, but rather it sets me free from sin and bondage.Being set free from the sin is what makes us all one.We are "born again" and we "walk in the Spirit" as God leads.

Have you ever bought something that was totally pulled apart but it came with a manual that told you how to set it up and to make it work? Well then the bible is our guide and it helps us to live life on this earth and to live a life after Christ JESUS without being affected by various curve balls that this world can bring, because it assures us of the glorious things that GOD has promised us and a wonderful peace of life without death. Heaven and earth will pass away but the word of GOD is the only thing that will last. Our own doctrines mean nothing and simply cannot save us from the things that are ahead only the word of GOD.

The Bible provides a foundation for who Christ really is, why we should serve Him, and how we should live a Christian life. The reality is that there are always new situations developing in ones life and in the world that require further explanation of Christ's teaching. For example, human cloning is not addressed in the Bible because it was not possible at the time and also scripture cannot be exhaustive without being infinite. This is why we need theologians to use reason to explain the morality of new things. This is not making up doctrine, it is applying our intellect to the fundamental truths of Christ to clarify new situations. A mathematician may state that 1 + 1 = 2 and everyone agrees. Now someone says "That is fine, but what is 2 + 2?" The mathematician does not make up new math to answer this question, he simply reasons that 2 + 2 = 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 4. He has simply extended the same truth.

The bible is our guide through the world. It is our foundation and should be read daily. It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. (Matthew 4:4) We should not make up doctrine as we go along or as certian needs arise. There have also been those that have added to the word of God or taken out of the word of God. The Lord warns against such things. 18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Revelation 22) God is the author of the Bible, it is the insipired word of the living God. If He "forgot" to put something in that we would need in life, then He is not God, plain and simple.
God bless!

We can choose to live by our own rules as well, if we want, and enforce them ourselves. I'm sure people do it all the time. But I wouldn't call it doctrine. Not everything that a Christian does is necessarily religious.

No. You cannot "make up" doctrine. Well, I suppose you can if you want to, but it'll be false and seen as an abomination to God.
True doctrine comes from God.

Christians can profess to believe in the OT but reject the need to follow any of it.
They have no divine law to follow so secular man made laws are used and established on the earth.

Isn't that what the authors of the Bible were basically doing? Not to mention those who came along afterward to put things in, take things out, intentionally mistranslate, and "interpret" the Bible?

God exists in multiple dimensions of space, time, and even multiple dimensions of will. He can have 6.5 billion+ free wills running around this planet and none of them change what He was promised that He will do.
Thus, you can believe whatever you want: God or yourself. Your choice. Do keep in mind, however, that you will be permitted to keep your choice . . . and the consequences.

Christians make up new doctrines every time someone reinterprets a passage to their own agenda. Same with the koran, etc.
