you wanna be "cheap" and wear a tux?
Set a budget you can live with first, figure out what part of it goes to the wedding site. I like B&B's for affordable but nice weddings

While I understand wanting to save money, I wouldn't l refer to the wedding as cheap. You have to sit down and decide what is important to each of you. If your fiance is one of those girls who has dreamed about her wedding since she was little, then you should listen to her and try to incorporate details of her dream into your wedding. If I was a guy, I'd even take a second job or save for 2 years if that's what it took to give my fiance her dream.
That said, there are so many ways to save money. Buying roses in bulk and making the bouquets and centerpieces is great. Keeping the guest list small and renting a hall that allows you to hire an outside caterer will save money. There are great websites that will make designer inspired wedding gowns for a fraction of the US cost. They operate out of China where labor and fabric are really inexpensive. (Try Julius Bridal)
The most important thing is to have your family and friends there. Don't try to do the cheapest thing possible. You want the day to memorable and special. You will only have this one wedding day.

I don't remember exactly how much it cost, but here's what we did:
I made the invitations, we had a pot luck dinner at the reception, for the rehearsal dinner we BBQ'd, my mother-in-law made our cake, a friend did the photography we just bought the film. I did the decorations the night before, my sister-in-law did my hair. The only things we bought were my dress and we paid for the tux rental. Just find the things you can do yourselves, that'll save you a lot of money. Hope that helps.

There used to be a show on TLC called for better or for worse where a team was given a week and $5000 to create a wedding. The cake and food were usually homemade or they did a really good job bargaining the caterer. Decorations adn invitations were usually homemade. They would usually buiy flowers and make the bouquets on their own

Depend on how many you invite.
You have to figure about $30-50 dollars a person.
It's 2007 things our expensive now.
I payed $18.50 a plate in 1969. Had 50 guests.
Cost us $925.00 just for part of reception.
Open bar cost us $250.00.
Good Luck !!

Think about what is important to you and your fiance and then decide what you can do without to stay on budget. I did not have a cheap photographer and am very happy about that because that is all I have of my wedding as a momorie that will last forever! Good Luck

It's good you have your own tux, but depending on circumstances, you could probably be getting a free rental on a tux, if all the groomsmen use the same store.
Any other assets?

I'm doing my big, formal wedding on a $5000 budget...and Im underbudget at the moment. Give yourself time to shop the sales and you can do it.
My small wedding, we did at my dad's house...$40 for flowers, $200 for food and drink did it!
