if we would recite them in our national language we will be able to understand what we are saying. While we recite in Arabic though we know the translation or not we are not able to understand what we are actually saying to Allah.

Because the Qur'an is in Arabic and the Prophet Muhammad(PBUH*) prayed in Arabic so we Muslims must follow the Prophet's example. Plus ALLAH intended for Arabic to be the suriving language on Earth until the Day of Judgement so that is why the Qur'an is in Arabic.

Well ,I'm not going to go through the very details. But long time ago the imaam abu hanifa thought of translating the holy Qur'an because by that time so many Romans joined Islam .....later on they realized that the language of the Qur'an could disappear if they allowed people to pray in their own languages ...add to this that some Arabic words in the Qur'an has no equivalent in other languages ...why ? because ,the words are coming from Allah . so to keep our Qur'an & to prevent it we can only read the translation of the meaning but we should pray in Arabic as our prophet "PBUH" ..& the same with reciting the Qur'an we can read the translation of the meaning to UNDERSTANDwhat we are saying to Allah....even the word Allah .....no other word could give me the feeling of this Arabic one .
Hope it helps .

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.

Dear Friend,

The reason why you have to say it in arabic because the translation is not accepted as a part of the koran. Once you translate it to any language it loses its essence as arabic is a poetic language. Therefore, you have destroyed the meaning and the poetry in the koran.

All the best.

Any language is acceptable to God.
Being able to understand what the prayer represents is what is Important.
The Quran was received through Muhammad (PBUH) by the "Resonance of Allah" - A vibration sent by Allah (God).
The Arabic language is the closest form of the vibration that man has as to the true meaning revealed through the Prophet.
If one wants to learn Arabic for a better understanding of the text, it is then up to the individual. It is the intoning of the Surah
that has great power within it. A persons intention in the prayer is what really matters. "Unshakable Faith" is necessary
for the prayers to be effective.

As God says to Muhammad (PBUH) in the Qur'an...

Ar-Ra'd (The Thunder) (13:37)
Thus, then, have We bestowed from on high this [divine writ] as an ordinance in the Arabic tongue. And, indeed, if you should defer to men's likes and dislikes after all the [divine] knowledge that has come to you, you would have none to protect you from God, and none to shield you [from Him].

Az-Zumar (The Groups) (39:28)
as a discourse in the Arabic tongue, free of all deviousness, so that they might become conscious of God.

And as a direct answer to your question:

Fussilat (Explained in Detail) (41:44)
Now if We had willed this [divine writ] to be a discourse in a non-Arabic tongue, they [who now reject it] would surely have said, “Why is it that its messages have not been spelled out clearly? Why - [a message in] a non-Arabic tongue, and [its bearer] an Arab?” Say: “Unto all who have attained to faith, this [divine writ] is a guidance and a source of health; but as for those who will not believe - in their ears is deafness, and so it remains obscure to them: they are [like people who are] being called from too far away.

You can recite them in any language you want.

However, If you are worshipping Allah and want to get a reward for these prayers then you have to do it his way.

Praying in any other language wont have any value in the hereafter because God has made Arabic the universal language for the universal revelation in the universal religion.
