I love Neutrogena's Acne on the Spot....it's about $4.99, and you can get anywhere (even the grocery). It has benzoyl peroxide (anti-bacterial), but only at a strength of 2.5%, so it's not too irritating or drying.

I would suggest maybe:
-- Wash your hands. Wash your face, let air dry.

--Wash your hands, and then apply a very light layer of the Neutrogena over the affected area. Let this dry.

--Wash your hands again, and apply moisturizer (like Clean and Clear with salicylic acid). This will fight breakouts as well, and keep the acne medicine from being too drying.

It's really important to wash your hands before applying anything! Otherwise, you're just adding more bacteria to your already irritated skin. My dermatologist told me this method, and I have no issues at all anymore. My acne wasn't too bad before, but this really gave me skin that doesn't require makeup if I don't want to wear it.

Good Luck!

My favorite is Desert Essence Blemish Stick. I get it at Trader Joe's and have seen it in other stores.

My next favorite spot treatment is plain Milk of Magnesia. I just apply a thin layer & leave it on for about 30 minutes before rinsing it off w/ cool water.

Finally, I recommend Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask. It has clay & benzoyl peroxide and I think it works best as a mask.

This is what I use. I use to use proactive and would dry out my nose and mouth area. I found out it was because of benzoyl peroxide if not this one get a product that has salicylic acid instead of benzoyl peroxide in it. http://cgarcia1.qhealthbeauty.com/products/product.aspx?itemno=EE0176
Controls, treats and heals blemishes with proven power of salicylic acid. Keep your skin blemish free! Treat, heal, and manage breakouts with Blemish Control Acne Treatment Gel. The salicylic acid helps control blemishes, while the Nutrilite-approved ginseng provides clarifying properties, and the chamomile soothes skin.
