josie,
Do not believe every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. You should have a healthy skepticism.

patrone0,
The only priesthood found in the New Testament that applies to Christians is the Royal Priesthood of ALL BELIEVERS.
If the Priest can forgive you with your sins, You will be sinless by now.

Now, tell me where in the NT it says we must atone for our sins with Hail Marys?

fenian19,
How can it be. The New Testament was written by Jewish-Christian apostles and none of them are Catholics because there was no Roman Catholic Religion at the time.
The fact is that the Catholic Religion did not exist at the time of Jesus so Peter had nothing to do with something which did not exist.

A true Christian is a person who has put his or her faith and trust in the person of Jesus Christ and fact that He died on the cross as payment for sins and rose again on the third day to obtain victory over death and to give eternal life to all who believe in Him. John 1:12 tells us: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” A true Christian is indeed a child of God, a part of God’s true family, and one who has been given new life in Christ. The mark of a true Christian is love for others and obedience to God’s Word (1 John 2:4; 1 John 2:10).

Whether one receives forgiveness from a priest or from Christ it is the same. The priest only acts "in persona Christi". Of course according to Scriptures Jesus gave the authority of forgiving sins to the apostles and their successors acting as His mouth and hands in providing the Sacraments.

house speaker: if you truly believe that the Bible only says that there is the priesthood of all believers and not a sacramental priesthood as well then you are ignoring very large portions of Scripture or misunderstanding the same. Check out the book of Acts as well as the discourse by Jesus at the Last Supper.

A true Christian is one who follows the Instructions of Jesus (Yeshua) the problem they don't know everything he said due to king Constantine changing and deleting so many things in the Bible. The original New Testament (the Gospel Of The Nazirenes) is the Original NT before Constantine misconstrued things. Jesus originally taught karma, reincarnation, Vegetarianism, And no one goes to hell eternally. Unless one understands these things they can not understand the unlimited mercy and love of God - also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. for info google gospelofthenazirenes.com For sincere seekers of Christ teachings and Truth.

No where in the Bible is it written to confess to a priest.
As to your question. A real Christian is one who recognizes his own sin, realizes that there is nothing he can do for salvation that he does not deserve.
He humbles himself before the Christ in his shame that Jesus took to the cross for him. He asks to be covered by the blood of Christ. To truly love the Christ for his ultimate sacrifice.
Becoming a new creature, seeking not to sin.Where Jesus reins as Lord of his life, trying to follow the spirit not the flesh
for repentance then submission.
one can not join a church, religion or group for salvation.
On the last day , you stand alone or with the Christ.

A true Christian models their life after Christ. A true Christian is loving, abides by Christ's teachings in the Bible. God only forgives. You confess your sins to him, not to a priest.

A true Christian the Bible says had to quit asking the priest for forgiveness when Christ died on the cross. The need for confessionals was deminished when Christ died for their sins. A true Christian lives everyday to be as much like Christ as they can so that they can reach Heaven. A true Christian does all for the glory of God and not for the glory of themselves. A true Christian loves everyone including their enemies because God loved us so much to send his only son to die on the cross for our sins.

A person who not only believes that Jesus is the Christ, our Lord and Savior who died for our sins and rose again, but also it takes action. A person who follows the bible and does as God instructs us to do. A fake Christian is a person who says they believe in Jesus and God, but they do not live a Christ-like life.

Since we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in all things like we are, yet without sin. Let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16 Why try to go through men when we can go directly to the high priest himself?

The only requirement to be a Christian is the belief that Jesus of Nazerous was (is) the Christ and therefor the Son of God. What makes someone a good (or real) Christian varies from church to church and from one Christian to the next and therefor is endlessly debatable and never answerable.
