I have acne problems, being 17 and all.
I use Proactiv Solution face clenser daily, and it works wonders for me.
But the texture of my skin is yuck.
It's rough in places (t-zone).
I want smooth skin.

So should I start using the toner? I know how and when to use everything,
I just want to know:
Does Proactiv Toner help to even out the texture of skin?

There are 5 steps to good skin care
-Cleanse
-exfoliate
-freshen (tone)
-moisturize
-protect.

I happen to use Mary Kay. I have an incredibly oily acne prone skin and that worked for me with the acne, and yet improved the overall healthy appearance of my skin. The cleanser is a 3-in-1 cleanser. It cleanses, exfoliates (you can feel the microbeads exfoliating when you use it, and freshens/tones all in one step. I also use the acne treatment gel. Then I follow up with a moisturizer. This is also formulated for oily skin. It works wonders. Also, with Mary Kay, I can look to them for the cutting edge of technology in their products. Also, they stay in with the fashions and trends, so I can keep my make-up look fresh and fashionable. You can check it out at www.marykay.com/rebecca.

You need to at least use a moisturizer! The proactive cleanser is also an exfoliate and with out moisture you skin will feel tight and rough. Also I think proactive puts salicylic acid in the moisturizer, that will help KEEP your skin clear. People have mixed views on toners, Personally I like to use them. Also the Proactive system is just that... a system and usually the best results are from utilizing the products the way they were meant to be used. They were customized to work together. If you can only afford the cleanser and buy a tone and moisturizer with Salicylic acid and possibly Alpha and Beta Hydroxy . I use Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Defense Face Lotion, and the Pore refining toner. or Burts Bees tomato toner ( I love it)

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.

In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.

Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.

In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.

If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

Yes you should use a toner after cleansing your face. Then you apply a moisturizer on the skin to prevent dryness. The proactive face cleanser might be quite strong which is why your acne dry up easily.

In long run, do remember to apply moisturizer after your toner.Alternatively when you need a quick solution to dry up the acne spots or pimples, you can try out Miho Spot Touch. This product is exclusively online and not sold in any drug store.

yeah the toner helps to hydrate, rejuvenate, moisturize and balance your skin. It romoves excess oil without drying your skin. Also try using an oil free moisturizer to moisturize your skin, because the repairing lotion in pro-active is not a moisturizer and it is designed only to prevent and help heal the acne, so you still need a moisturizer because moisturizing your skin is really important even if you have oily skin. Good Luck!
