They teach a lot of things in college, but survival is not one of them.Mostly inexperience. Us poor old mustangs that replaced them fared somewhat better. Of course we already had enough medals and nothing to prove. Semper Fi.

In battle... kill the head and the body will die. At least that's what they thought. With no leader to lead them the troops will run...again a misconception. Radio operators also had a short life span. Shorter then the rest. I know from what I speak.

The NVA and VC were trained to spot the leaders.
