It's what is left when your hormones settle down and you find that you still love the person who you were once "in" love with.

Being "in love" is just a hormonal sex response and is worthless compared to just loving someone without being in love.

Society has this all wrong which is why we have such a high divorce rate.

His meaning of true love is when a man lays down his life for his fellow brother. As did Jesus Christ at the cross.

1 Corinthians 13:4
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

1 Cor: 13

Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful. Love takes no pleasure in other peoples sins, but delights in the truth. It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope, and to endure whatever comes.

There are different kinds of love so there are different answers. The Greeks had different names for the different kinds of love there are. God's love is in Corinthians in the bible. There are other types of love, though.

2) devout in faith, supportive of eachother
3) adhere to the rules of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
