the Catholic? I don't believe so. but the Holy Bible is the same. NIV, KJV, Amplified are basically just the Holy Bible in different tongues.

The KJV was not the first translation into English, there were Several before including, Wycliffe, Tyndale, Bishop's etc.

The KJV takes much of it's wording from the English translations that preceded it.

Since the KJV was publishedd in 1611, understanding of the Bible languages has increased, comparrison of ancient manuscripts has produced more precise/authentic original source language texts, and the English language has changed. For these reasons, some modern translations are better than the KJV, the KJV is still very good, and in my opinion better than some modern versions that take some liberties in translation. The New American Bible is good, also the New English Bible, Jerusalem Bible, American Standard version, Revised Standard Version and New World Translation. I also like the NET Bible for it's extensive translation notes.

As far as i know the bible comes 3 ways, all contain the Word of God so they are all Holy bibles.

There is the king james bible which is probably the most common.
The is the "verily thy say"one,i dont know what its called but its too taxing to read
and theres the new american (Jerusalem) bible which is probably the nicest and suprisingly enough my favourite,It contains 6 books not found in the other bibles.
Also if you get the red letter edition every world Our Lord says is written in red which is a very nice touch,

If you are thinking of getting a bible get the Jerusalem bible(red letter edition).

The words also seems better fleshed out than the king james version but is just as digestable.

I read the Bible in Hebrew when I want to get the real story. Some translations are a bit liberal. (wrong even)

I stick with the king James bible. It supposedly was the first bible translated to English and it seems that all other American English bibles are taking their interpretation from KJV anyway.
