Make sure you wait at least 24 hours between each session. Depending on how light you are it could take a few weeks to get your base down. Lotion is a huge must in tanning the more moisturized your skin is the better it will take on the tan. The salon should be able to get you a good one. If you start with a bronzer make sure you apply it evenly so you dont get streaky.

im pale....i dont recommend going everyday. maybe every other day if ur not pink..them tanning lotions might make u burn...they make me burn. if u start to get a little tan and ur not burning i would try some lotion. if u start out in a lay down bed and get a tan started then go to a stand up bed u might get darker faster...thats how i do it...after about a month i have a nice tan

Remembering to use sunscreen, or keeping your exposure very low, once a week. 5-20 minutes per session...ask at the shop. If they are commercially licensed, they should be able to tell you!

Give your skin time to recover from the trauma, since the UV from the tanning beds is "more intense" than the sun, so it can do more damage. After all, UV light is used in decontamination procedures in some labs, and it burns the top layer of your skin right off!

However, if you're "frugal" like I am...go lay-out in a park or on a beach, or in your back yard! It's free! ;)

...And the tanning lotions are accelerators.
They make the tanning process faster.
