I have answered a few questions lately here about this very issue, especially from those who are using this argument to say that God does not answer prayer. Christians out there, can we come together and praise God even when He doesn't answer the way we want?

to encourage you John P- both my husband and I are struggling with health issues- I have had a chronic pain disease for over 30 years, and I have asked the Lord many times to remove it , and yes, I do have faith that He could. What I am learning from this is - God can use me for His glory more in pain than not. Some people may say that is impossible, but I have seen it- Like Paul- "God's grace is sufficient".

Jef- I totally understand where you are coming from. But please do not judge- you do not know how often I pray, or others pray for other people. That is probably part of the reason that God does not heal so we can be understanding of others. This question was not really meant to say how often we pray about ourselves- what it was meant to , which most people got- was that we can be used by God in others lives, and also praise Him through the pain.

it's called worship. true worshippers don't care what life is like but praise God for being God. besides, I believe if you're fine with God, and you're not healed, even going through the proper measures (righteous, having faith, prayer) and you're still not healed... God has a reason you haven't realized yet. for example, He could use you who is in a wheelchair to witness to a wheelchair bound person who hates life. you having malaria could teach someone with arthritis to bless God. etc.

I believe that the general idea is, as others have said, "Not my will, but yours".. so "if it's your will Lord, may I be healed" is what some may pray.
HOWEVER, I will be honest, I don't know how to react when it comes to that. I have some medical issues that in the past I prayed about a lot.. with no getting better. I suppose then that means it was not his will.. but that's where the confusion hits me.. WHY wasn't it his will? Why wouldn't he want me better? Why suffer? It's really hard to say.. Maybe he is showing me something? Maybe he's allowing it so that I can do something in the future? or.. Maybe he just doesn't want me healed? Hmmm

He knows what we need and want but sometimes what you think you need isn't his plan.
Lets say your boy/girl friend just broke up with you. You pray to God every day asking him to let you guys get back together because you know you are "perfect" for each other.
Lets say that boy/girl friend wasn't the one God planned you for.
You will probably be crying now but later you will find the perfect man/women for you.
If it's God's plan he will answer.
If he dosn't, he has a bigger plan for you.
~sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers... remember when you're talkin to the man upstairs... just because he may not answer dosn't mean he don't care... some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers~

Disease came about from the fall in the garden. It is part of the curse we live with on this planet.
With bad eating habits and life style we are trying to get sick and diseased, and then ask God to heal us. (?)
Don't stick your finger in the light socket and you won't get burned.
Some disease we bring on ourselves and we are able to fix our selves if we get off our lazy butts.
Other diseases; you eat that which is unclean and get sick, who's fault is that?
Example: cancer: We are the ones who have all this wonderful technology, food processing, spray this and that on everything, glow in the dark nuclear waste stuff dumped where ever .
God is not Sear's and Roebuck. The disease maybe satan testing your faith or just being the liar he is.
Being strong and walking with GOD during your last days on earth isn't a bad thing per-se. To the family left behind it is painful and full of questions.
The next waking moment is being present with GOD.

Dear adorehim,
If Jesus only came to physically heal people, man would have nothing to rejoice about. Because we would die and then spend eternity in the lake of fire (hell). The fact is we all die. These bodies we inhabit are sin-cursed and corrupt.
The healing that we need is spiritual healing of our DEAD soul. The Bible tells us that we are dead in sins and trespasses (Ephesians 2:1-3). If the Lord does not redeem or save us, then we will face the second death--eternal damnation (Revelation 20:6). God refers to being saved as being born-again (John 3), the washing of regeneration (Titus 3:5), or getting a new resurrected soul (Revelation 20;6; Ephesians 2:6).
You see "salvation" is the most important treasure. Only Christ can save a person. The Bible says, "So then, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." FAITH is a synonym for Jesus Christ. See Revelation 19:11. So then, CHRIST cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. I hope you can now see how important God's word is. John the Baptist was saved in his mother's womb by hearing the word of God. Can you see that "intelligence" is not requirement for salvation! That is why God says that He is no respector of persons. God is Sovereign and He saves whom He chooses.

According to the christian bible:
John 14:14 - If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.
Matthew 21:21 - I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

Excerpt:
"There are not two laws of probability -- one for people who pray and one for everyone else. There is a single law of probability that applies equally to everyone. Prayers have zero effect in any statistical study."

We are to pray for His will to be done, regardless of what it is. Sometimes a person needs to be ill to realize that they need God in their life. It seems to be that people most often reach out to God when they are at their lowest and weakest points in their life. So for God not to answer a prayer for healing may be the grace of God extended to you, and you do not even realize it. That sickness may lead you to truly give up your will in favor of doing the will of God.
It's easy for people to be proud and rebellious when they are strong and healthy. It is sad that it takes a terrible thing in one's life to make them come to God, but it is so often true.

No one knows Gods will.Just because we pray for something doesn't mean it will be answered. We should be praying that Gods will will be done. God knows how everything is going to turn out.Think about that Garth Brooks song"unanswered prayers".Sometimes what we pray for isn't what we really need.God knows best in all situations.Praise God.

we are not guaranteed to be healed if we pray. There are religious hospitals all over the world with sick and dying patients in them. It doesn't mean you lack faith. It means that God is giving you a way out of your suffering.
He will remember you in the resurrection.
