Hi, I was before a very sceptic person. Then I realized something: humans have 4 "dimensons", or ways in which to interact with the world around them: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Phyisical would be the case in which we use our senses. Emotional is related to feellings. Mental to reason and spiritual is related to a different set of feellings, like the feelling of oneness, intuition, inspiration, compassion, etc.
One of them is straight forward provable: the physical. If i can feel it cold, its cold, and a termometer would find it to be cold. Another can be provable too, that is the mental case, if you follow a set of logical steps, you will reach a logical conclusion, like mathematics, in a simple example, 1+1=2, no matther who does the adding. But the other two are more of a selfed nature. For example, in the emotional, how can you tell when you are in love? can you prove that the guy standing next to me is or not in love? no, you cant (*). but if you are in love, you just know it, it doesnt matter what they tell you, you are.
Now, to prove that you are in love, you could describe to someone who has been in love how it feels. And then, you could prove him that you are. Its the same with the spiritual dimension. If you have not sensed God, there's nothing I can tell you to make u belive i have.
So you have an option. To think a lot of ppl is just foolling themselves, because they 'think' they can feel what you somehow cannot, or you start wondering what else is there..
:) gd luck.
----
(*): the different dimensions are not isolated, so a person in love would show some biological reaction to facing the loved one.

I BELIEVE IN NOTHING, BECAUSE I CAN PROVE NOTHING.
It's has to be arrogance on the part of the human race to think that we can believe anything. We're just stupid little animals running around this rock who use only 10% of our brains. Who the hell are we to think that we can even comprehend how the universe works?
"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything simply on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find anything that agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it."

Belief is simply a conviction, or an opinion, Faith is confidence in ,hope or trust. Both terms fall far short of `fact`, or `truth`, which means the verifiable true state of something. You believe the word is flat, you cannot prove it, but you have faith in your belief. I know and can prove the Earth is round, I do not require faith, I have provable truth.

I believe in Buddhist logic to the extent that, what the Buddha has said has been put to the "logic" test at great length and never actually, really refuted... then I test it myself and wind up coming to the same conclusions.

You don't believe in someting that has been proven, you know it.
Believe is what I think and feel
Know is what I can prove.
That's why its such a waste of time to spread "beliefs" because just thinking it doesn't make it true. It makes sense to spread knowledge because you can offer evidence to back up your claims.
