I would say it encourages us to learn as much as we can about everything we can, including other religions, but I don't see how comparing them would prove or disprove one religion true over another, I think that's best answered by just asking God directly.

There is no true religion. If you look back in history. The first known religion was Christianity. But, I am a Christian, a catholic, and we don't hold ourselves higher than anyone. All religions claim to be "the one"

The bible tells me to discern what is of God, and what is not of God. That certainly would include false religions.

Not at all. We don`t compare ourselves to them, we don`t judge them and we let them know that we are open to communication, not to convert them but to live in harmony with them (Catholic)
