{Without letting any "cat out of the bag"}
The 2008 superduty has a new 6.4 litre diesel.
This is not a Cummins, but is made by Navistar
The 'rumor' is that a smaller diesel will be available for the F150 (light duty) in 2009
"Rumor" has it that this 'may' be a Cummins
That is all that i can say.

As far as putting a cummins into a ford, well this still remains to be seen. I think this would be a good idea for reason that there is a change needed.
I would like to mention that you have been given some wrong information. Ford does not own Cummins Corporation.
Ford is a shareholder in the Cummins entity. Also this never happened 5 years ago. This share purchase happened in the early 90s.
Same as why Ford and Mazda are in bed together.
Ford has had shares in Mazda for many years.
the Ford Corporation is very diversified and just the same as most of its competitors.

There are as many rumors on what going where as anybody...
Currently in the US, the only Diesel in the f-250 to f-550 series is the international provided 6.4 with rumors the agreement is in place till 2013.
There have been rumors of Cummins (when the dodge contact was gonna run out that dodge was going to use a MB engine) as well as Catapillars ... However currently they are only found on f-650 and f-750 series trucks. (In the last of the LCF trucks, they run a international 4.5 v-6)
There is word that Ford will build in house, a diesel for the new f-150/Expedition but no word if the engine will carry over or with a slight tweaking appear in a super duty. supposedly it's a 4.4 v-8 built on land rover technology.

conceivable - maybe. degree of difficulty - someplace between Double Diamond expert and Developmental Engineering expert. because of the fact there ain't not something that is going to slot. era. on an identical time as they are comparable appearing on the outdoors, the clearances and mounting factors and fittings are completely distinctive between the avert and the Ford. you've got fewer themes and get comparable consequences via looking a low mileage 7.3 in a donor truck to furnish each and all the little un-plan in a position bits and products, because of the fact the common engine and transmission mounts are an identical and the gasoline and electric fittings would be for the main area interchangeable. yet do not forget approximately to get the splendid computing gadget for the engine the two.

they still have international building their engines. this time, the 6.4 isn't a joke like the 6.0. they actually did a lot of testing on them, and from what i hear, they are MEAN. in the f450 and up, ford has caterpiller producing the power. it still looks like if you want a cummins, you've got to buy an ugly truck, OR transplant one into a ford.
