Geologists aren't reaching false conclusions based on their ancient view of the earth. Everything appears to be just as they would expect and nothing like the Bible describes.

Astronomers aren't reaching false conclusions based on their calculations of the age of the Universe and I have yet to see a Church group launch a probe into space.

Medical Biologists are developing vaccines, antibiotics, fertility methods and genetic treatments that could not have been imagined without Charles Darwin.

Anthropologists and Archaeologists are discovering precisely the types of things they should expect in an ancient world with an evolutionary biology and the migrations of populations.

All of these disciplines have to work together, or they don't work at all. All are part of a model of the universe that far surpasses your Disneyland version of reality in complexity and it is being put to the test every minute of every day at NASA and at your pharmacy.

Are you still sure it's "just a theory"?

I see we have a bunch of Kirk Cameron wannabes posing as Theists here in R & S.

I had hoped for better but I should have known.

I'm Christian, but I'm also a science nerd.
I'm SURE that evolution is an accurate way to descrive the origins of more advanced species. I just don't know why other Christians can't accept the fact that the Creation story in Genesis has a SYMBOLIC meaning, and not a literal one.

I'm also glad to see that so many other answerers are logical, scientific people - loads of answers supporting Darwin's Theory have lots of thumbs up, whereas people who write things like "the facts supporting evolution have since been proven wrong" and such nonsense have 11 thumbs down (at last count).

None of evolution works; they fudge it along and fill in the gaps and call it a theory.

Explain a platypus ? A jelly fish? A kangaroo? A banana tree?
A chicken? A baby?

All evolved out of the slime from bacteria that became fish that crawled on land that jumped up a tree, then learned to walk.

The Christian argument against evolution is a logical fallacy known as the strawman attack. This occurs when Person A makes claim X and person B presents a distorted version of claim X and attacks it. A good example is the Christian belief that evolution means that humans evolved from monkeys. Though this falsehood is constantly corrected and explained, Christians choose to stick with their version of evolution rather than the truth.

I loved the guy who said the bible is fact whereas it has been repeatedly proven wrong in several places.

People can only accept certain pieces but not all of it much like how they look at the bible. Many of the homophobes are religious and they don't realize that they would end up in the same hell as the gay people because they break those same laws that all of them ignore. Shellfish is the path to hell!

Scientists are continually proving their own selves wrong, time after time.
Yes it is a theory and lacks any solid proof, just a lot of conjecture which is usually wrong.

I watched on TV where they found some old tools and guessed what they were used for, this was down in Mexico and they knew the tribe of people who had used them, so some college kids set out to see if they could find anyone still living from that tribe, they did manage to find one guy that was like in his 90's and he knew what the tools were and told them, they had been totally wrong in their guessing.
Just because someone says hey I think this is what it is, doesn't mean they are right.

Everyone has the right to believe what they want. But theory isn't fact. Things written in the Bible are fact, not theory. Doubt and Lies are the Devil's favorite weapons. Do you believe the Devil exists?
