I just started Atkins about a week ago, but have seen no results. I've done it before (successfully), but now I seem to be stuck. I'm exercising, drinking plenty of water, and watching my carbs, but the scale will not budge. It's frustrating. Any insights? Oh, and I've been mainly dependent on the Atkins food--bars, shakes, etc....could this be my problem? Thanks!

Please no anti-Atkins hype.

Yes, I think it's the bars and shakes that you're using is holding you back.

If you're just starting off from a lay-off, then you need to redo induction which is 20 grams of carbs a day.

I believe the bars, shakes are primarily used for the OWL phase.

If you are eating too many of those bars and shakes you will not loose weight. The bars should be eaten in small portions, not as direct meals. The bars should be more like snacks to help you curb certain urges. Remember those bars contain some carbs and they contain CALORIES! For some reason people believe that they can eat them in an abundance and still see results. Not the case! They are also very expensive. Try using a half of your favorite bar after you've eaten a low carb meal. Although the bars are tasty, once you get used to just nibbling on them, you will see good results! Yes, the bars and shakes will keep you fat if you allow them to!

The Atkins supplements are just that , supplements. They are not meant to be you main source of calories. You need to be eating your lean meats, high fiber veggie and stuff. On any diet, eating plan or lifestyle, you really wont be able to see results in just one week. Even liposuction and other surgeries you wouldn't be able to see results in one week because of the swelling. If after a month of "Doing Atkins" right, the lean meats and other protein, high fiber foods and low on the supplements, if you still haven't had any success try a fat fast. Dr. Atkins and his partner came up with this and it does work to kick start your fat burning again.
You are limited to 1000 calories a day, 90% of which is fat. I like to call it the "Cheese Cake" diet, I make and eat my 0 carb cheese cake for a week. You should only do this for a week because you are cutting out a bunch of other nutrients that you need.

0 carb cheese cake

4 8oz bricks of regular Philly cream cheese
4 large eggs
1 cup of splenda
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

Mix in a blender, up-right mixer or hand mixer unto all ingredients are smooth. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 400 deg. F for 45-60 min or until a desired consistency, it will set as it cools.

For an added treat mix 1 cup of sour cream, 1 tablespoon of splenda and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract together and add to top of cheese cake as it comes out of the oven.

You're probably building muscle and burning fat at the same time... so you might not see any changes. Plus, you might also be adding water weight.
