Everytime I bake cupcakes it seems like the bottoms are always getting burnt before the tops are even light brown. I put the cupcake pans on the middle rack of the oven with the oven at 350F. What am I doing wrong?

Try this old trick from an old baker.
Line a cookie sheet with heavy alunium foil
sit your cup cake pan (or pans) on the lined cookie sheet and bake them. the foil lined cookie sheet will protect the bottom of your cup cakes from the high bottom heat of the oven.
I hope this will solve your problem. jim b
PS. save the foil for the next baking.

Try a different pan, or move them up. If you use 2 racks at once, switch the pans on the top and bottom racks half way through the cook time. Maybe even turn the oven down to 325 and add to the time.

Your rack should be on the second position--referred to as B. If your are not using foil cups you might try them. IT could be your oven as well.
