Maltese dogs require little excersise. They are also nice cuddly lap dogs if that is what you are looking for. They are also small dogs. Most are around 10lbs. They are also ingredibly intelligent. When I had a maltese she could always sense when I was sad. She would come over to me and lick me. The only down side to them is that they require a lot of grooming and they can be barkers if you don't nip it in the bud right away.

I recommend a Yorkshire Terrier. I have a 12 yr. old 'Yorkie' and except for tooth problems she has been very healthy. Yorkies don't shed as much as other breeds, are very intelligent, loving and loyal. They were originally bred as 'ratters'. They were used in coal mines to get rid of the rats. They come in many sizes from 'tea cup', which is what I have (she weighs 3 1/2 pounds) to the standard which would be about 10-12 inches at the shoulder. They love to play and cuddle and when it's time to "go out" they do their business and are ready to go back in. They are definitely house dogs since they think they are as big as a Doberman and will take on anything who threatens their territory. They are also great with kids. I have 3 grand kids and am never afraid for them to be around her.

I have a cavalier x poodle and is totally affectionate, she's like a little princess, i walk her daily but she doesn't need much exercise at all, very easy to train and they are extremely intelligent, i got the cross breed cos i love both dogs and couldn't decide which i picked up from the shelter as a pup.
Good luck looking! i'm sure you'll make the right decision and no looking back.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - very affectionate, originally bred as companion dogs and still tend to be that way. They do enjoy playing and short walks, but also love to cuddle. They are smart and enjoy learning (obedience is a great way to exercise your dog without you physically moving). They are also small.

All dogs need exercise and the way to stop a dog pulling is to train it to walk on a lead. If you can't walk far you would probably be much better off with a cat.

I was going to say a bulldog, but there not exactly the smallest things. But you know a lot of small dogs can be hyper so they will still require daily exerise, just like any other dog would. Try researching different breeds. www.akc.org has a lot of good information.
Hope this helps!

What do you mean by a random choice?

You have to teach your dog to walk on a leash, and all dogs need exercise.

Like I tell everybody, go to your local shelter, and check out the dogs. You'll find one that fits the temperament you want.

Affection is most often a factor of how the animal is raised.
And if they will pull you a factor of how they are trained.

ok no one can tell u what dog is right for u. ur best bet would be to go to the shelter and look for a dog. maybe find a dog that is a little older and a little more mellow. that would probably be best for u considering ur conditions. its ok. ur allowed to have a dog. its just that no one is fit to tell u what is dog is good for ur life style and dont let anyone try

Well it depends on how much money you have. If you have alot of money to spend on a dog, I might try a shih-tzu. My grandma has one, they are not too big, they are great, adorable, companions. Just make sure you train them well, and you will be fine. You can even teach them tricks!
