Yeps.
If my brother threatens to kill me, he has two options. Both are equaly bad, both will get him to hell.
1. He kills me. That makes him a murderer.
2. He doesn't kill me. That made his death threat a lie. He's a liar now.
God is a just god! (LMAO)

Of course their sins are not equal. A quick look into the Old Testament would show you that the penalty for rape was death, while the penalty for theft was to pay back the value of the object stolen +10%. No matter how many times you stole that darn pencil, the penalty was the same.
However, unless there really are seperate areas of Hell reserved for different kinds of sinners (which I'm not so sure of) then once you die you pretty much get the same deal as everyone else.
The commandments can be thought of as forming a chain all the way to Heaven (because in the Old Testament, obeying the Law is what got you into Heaven). Breaking any link in that chain is enough to prevent you from climbing up to Heaven upon your death. Only faith in the redeeming power of Jesus' blood can fix your chain.

Let me say first, that I don't believe in "sin." Clearly, I also don't believe in hell. So, how can I answer your question? There are certain "moral" standards by which we live, (these are dependent on SUBJECTIVE concepts, created by humans, defined by humans, dependent on the place in "time" & on cultural faiths, myths). NOTHING is absolute.
Personally, & personally only, with no disrespect to anyone, I cannot see how stealing a pencil could in ANY way equate to rape. A little like the death penalty. I don't believe in killing. To me, the death penalty is premeditated murder. (Never mind going into innocent people who were condemned, proven innocent 20 years later through DNA, inadequately repesented...& so on.) In this case, a common feeling about the validity of condemning someone to death is most often determined by the heinous DEGREE of their alleged crime. But this is man made law; it hasn't the same precepts as the "God" perceived. The "loving" God who would send us to hell to burn & be tormented forever--for the--the what? The original sin? At the caprice of judging the same, the stealing of a pencil or raping or whatever? It's not my concern if you believe in going to hell; I respect your belief whether or not I agree. But--would it be wise--to question these things, written by MEN, not God?

That is actually 2 separate issues or questions.
Without getting into a whole lot of stuff, to just answer your question(s)....
Technically, going by the Bible, yes, all sins are equal in the eyes of the Lord. So stealing a pencil is as equal a sin as committing a rape - because both are sins, and basically both are going against God's will.
As far as deserving to go to Hell (also going by the Bible) - it isn't based on what sins you commit. It is based on if you accept or reject Jesus as Savior. If you accept Him, then you are saved and would go to Heaven. If you reject Him, then you would go to Hell.

Seriously,if you lose your pencil, you can get another, but you can't get your life back the way it was before you were raped. Also, Jesus would only judge you if you were a habitual stealer of pencils. With hell? I doubt it. So if a rapist turns around, couldn't he also be forgiven?
In my opinion a pencil stealer hasn't harmed anyone he just used bad judgement. I thought we were created in God's image and that God's thoughts are higher than our thoughts. So why is it that man keeps making God out to be such a Nazi?
These Lutherans started out saying that Jesus forgives all but ended up saying you should feel more guilt than you already do. The ones I have met love to see you prostrate yourself and weep like crazy for all that you've done against the Lord, however small, and beg for his forgiveness before you can be 'saved'.
I feel like I can't do that because as soon as I'm cleansed, I have to beg forgiveness again at a future date. It's a lot easier to pray for God to forgive me ahead of time and to just know that I'm doing my best . Know that nothing can seperate me from Jesus' love. Jesus said,"go and sin no more". That was easy for him to say.

well, if you repent and tell god that you are truly sorry then your sin will be forgiven in some other cases there are some steps that you will need to take in the repentance process:
1. Remorse (sadness) because he wont think that you are truly sincere (remember god knows the feelings of your heart)
2. Ask someone (such as a parent or a spouse) and talk to them about it.
3. Visit your bishop/preist/pastor (whatever religion you have) to help you go and change things and make them right. be sure to tell him the truth.
I do hope that you will take these things into your daily life and I truly want you to know that I have been there and I tru;y hope that this helps you solve your problem.

i did not see the question you're speaking approximately, yet i anticipate your speaking with regard to the word "all sins are equivalent." some human beings get at a loss for words approximately this, yet what it skill is that sin is sin in God's eyes, no be counted how vast or how small. besides the incontrovertible fact that, this would not advise the punishments for sins are equivalent. Killing somebody constitutes a a lot greater advantageous punishment than stealing a pencil, because of the fact the 1st offense impacts many human beings and motives a lot greater grief. comparable with raping.

Sin is Sin---i know it's hard to accept this---but that is what the Bible teaches---We have to ask forgiveness and turn from our sins---It is relly hard to think that a rapist or murderer can be forgiven as well as someone who steals a pencil---but our God is a just and forgiving God if only we believe----It's not a matter of deserving--it's a matter of believeng and repenting

According to the church doctrines one sin is as bad as the other. I don't agree with that though. Does it make sense? The rapist should go to hell immediately, do not pass go do not collect 200 dollars, just drug yourself up to oblivian and do the world a favor and jump out of a 10 story window.

The consequence of Sin is Death. Death means you will be dead, rotting in the ground & fertilizing the vegetation. We will ALL die this death. Then we will ALL be raised from the dead (as the biological creatures that we are) and stand before God for judgment. Then all who are judged as violators of God's law (LOVE) will be incinerated in the Lake of Fire and cease to exist... the Second Death. Death is the consequence for ALL Sin. So, YES we all deserve to Die.
The "sins" may not be "equal" technically; it is just that there is only one consequence regardless of what you did. Differences in sins: harm to others, motivation, understanding of the law, position of power & influence... I believe all of these things will be considered in the final judgment. God's law is LOVE and the extent to which you violate that law will be held against you. Jesus also pointed out that judgment will be harsher for those who had positions of power and influence over others. God is Holy but God is also merciful and just.
On our own merit none would survive the judgment. It is only through having a personal relationship with God, confessing and repenting from our sinfulness, and allowing God to forgive us, that we have any hope of eternal life. My hope is not in my own deeds or any delusion of being "good enough", my hope is in God and knowing I am loved and forgiven.
Peace.

It depends on who is judging the action of another.
It would require the probability that Hell is a real place that pencil stealing sinners could go to.
It is also necessary to define sin.
Equality is all there is.
However....I do have an opinion.....I don't consider rape to be a tolerable action.
