This is a heavy question. It all depends on the dinomination of the Christian Religion you're talking about. Some belive that there are three higher powers; God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirt. Other's belive that Jesus was just the son of God, and others believe that God came to this earth as Jesus and manifest himself as the holy sprit when he wants to come into our lives. Because there are so many religions it is hard to pin point the exact reason for this, but if you read the bible, you will get an insight on what is the true path.

.... And the sacrifice? Your law clearly states the need for a sacrifice. If prayer or kind-heartedness can replace the need for a sacrifice, then why was prayer and kind-heartedness not declared from the beginning?

And as to your other questions/points

1) a) We don't worship two Gods, we worship God in three distinct forms. It is the same to say that I am a bit of a historian, music lover, and baseball player. That does not mean I am three specific people, but that I am characterized those three ways.

1) b) Some do. Check out the Biblical Unitarians, especially William Ellery Channing. He believed Christ was God's Son, but not that he was God himself. He was obviously much greater than any of us, but somehow inferior in some degree than God.

2) We don't worship the cross and such, so I don't see how it could be idolatry. The Ark of the Covenant. Take that for instance. It is a sign to remember that God was with you, and in the same way we wear the cross to remember that Christ has redeemed us. Us worshiping the cross would be like you (assuming you are one) worshiping the Ark of the Covenant.

Please be careful when you assume things.

Christians do not believe in multiple gods. They believe in one God, manifested three different ways.

Manifestation #1 is often referred to as God the Father.
Manifestation #2 is God the Son.
Manifestation #3 is God the Holy Spirit.

Each manifestation has different functions. God the Father is regarded as the creator of the Universe, and the Father of Jesus.

God the Son is Jesus, and represents the entire Word of God delivered to the Earth in human form. His human form experienced the things we all experience, including death. He took upon Himself all of the sins of the world, past, present, and future, and freely accepted the punishment for them, yet He survived and remains today as our intercessor.

God the Holy Spirit is the great comforter. When God the Son was taken from us by death, the Holy Spirit came to us and stood in the gap until order was restored and the Church was established on Pentacost, some 50 days after the resurrection of Jesus. The Holy Spirit is a teacher and Guidance Counselor in modern times.

I like to think of these different roles or manifestations in the human terms of a business owner. The owner may put on different 'hats' during the day to perform different functions. He can be the Chief Executive Officer, the Accountant, the Personnel Officer, the Supervisor, the Desk Clerk, and the Janitor all in the same day. Here we have six manifestations by one human, so the idea of God with only three should not be too big of a leap.

Jews, on the other had, acknowledge God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit, but do not recognize Jesus as God the Son. Same God, same manifestations (or hats), they just do not belive that the man named Jesus was actually the God the Son. I guess they are still waiting for Him to arrive.

God (Father/Son/Spirit) is always there, protecting us from the worst of what Satan and his minions can do.

"Hell" is just a concept for eternal suffering.

If you do not choose to be with God, you will be left without Him entirely at some point.

When God separates those who chose Him from those who made other choices, then makes the separation permanent (closes the door, so to speak) those on the other side of the door have NO God left to them. They will be left completely unprotected, and completely at the mercy of Satan. That is bound to be unpleasant, thus the concept of eternal suffering.

The Bible speaks of total destruction on that other side of the door. I do not know if God intends to destroy all on that side of the door Himself, or if He intends to let those on the other side destroy themselves.

In any case, I hope to be on God's side of the door.

You're talking about two different beliefs - Christian and Jewish. I don't know that much about the Jewish beliefs, but as a Christian, I can tell you that Jesus is God AND God's son at the same time. It's one of the most difficult beliefs to understand in Christianity - the trinity. That is, God the father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit are three in one. I understand it best by thinking of a person who is my brother, he is also my father's son and he is also my nephew's father (three in one). But that's just a very human, limited way of looking at it. I'm sure we'll understand it better eventually.

Christians believe in something called the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They are all 3 equally God, yet they all 3 have individual roles in the Trinity. God created humans in his image to reflect this: we have a body, a soul (our feelings/emotions), and a spirit (our analytical/logical abilities). Calling Jesus God and God's Son is not a contradiction.

The Christian God is a Trinitarian God, which means, He is one, yet in the form of three persons. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each person is God indivisible. This is a mystery of faith we Catholics adhere to, because it is dogma. It cannot be explained with the reasoning abilities we now have. Some day , it will be made known to us in heaven.

we believe in trinity, actually.

1. Holy spirit that set the laws of existence

2. God the father who created the world and gave people old law (which did not work)

3. God the son who established a new way - having God in your heart instead of laws in the book.

One God; One Trinity.

I don't really care what Jesus looked like, as long as He's portrayed correctly and not blasphemed.

I don't really think 'being a good person' is enough to get to Heaven. why?
1) everyone has a different definition. if everyone's right, then God's imperfect for letting sin into His house. if everyone's wrong, then we're all hellbound and God's a liar. if there's one definition, everything's fine.
2) Believing and accepting are two different things. I believe that macro-evolution is the common theory respected by many scientists. do I submit to the theory of macro-evolution? no. what good is it just to say "God is there"? and not care?
3) like I said, man's idea of good varies and it's illogical to think everyone's right. if one person says it's okay for police to use guns, and another person says it's unethical, who's right? will they argue in Heaven over it? is God unjust for letting someone who agrees with sin in? questions like that arise.

it's people who reject Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior who go to Hell. if they don't get on the path to the narrow gate, then they're on the path to the broad gate.

You get it all wrong-we pray to God the Father in the NAME of Jesus-big difference. And God is God and Jesus is Jesus and they are also one in the same.

What's the difference ? It's all in the heads of the superstitious anyway. No religion can stand up under examination. The whole thing is impossible. Get out of the dark ages, and join the modern world.
