Hi.
Do you want to drop weight? You should start lifting weights as the benefits from that over cardio is that you use a lot of muscles that get left out in cardio. You should go 3-5 times per week to the gym for a maximum of 1 hours per session. This will increase your metabolism which is what you want. Make sure you always eat at mealtimes, eat food from the basic food groups. High protein diet (Atkins) is not good as it will tax your kidneys. Just eat normal food. To drop weight, train regularly and then for about 4-6 days drop your calories a little, then for the next 4-6 days you need to eat enough to maintain bodyweight, then repeat this until your goal weight has been reached. If you constantly eat less than you need your body will slow down its metabolism and that is not what you want.
Make sure you know what you are doing. There is only one way, the right way. The method above is bulletproof and works and you should not gain the weight back immediately by doing this.
Second, let´s say you and I weigh the same and are of the same gender, that doesn´t mean we need the same amount of calories. This means you can´t copy the amount someone eats and expect to get the same results. This is a complex issue and too many people think they know a lot about this subject when sadly they have no idea what they are talking about. Email me and I will be happy to try to help you if I can.
Hope this helped.

I try to stay under 1200 calories a day - but it's hard! Every little thing adds up. I'm at a healthy weight.
To find how many calories you should consume in a day, multiply your weight by 10, and add your weight to that figure.
For example, if you're 150:
150 x 10 = 1500
1500 + 150 = 1650
So to maintain a healthy weight, you should consume 1650 calories a day, and to lose weight, you should consume less than that.

When i was at my heaviest of 265 pounds, i was eating around 3080 calories per day. (on my way to an early grave) I got a serious wake up call and changed my entire life including walking every day. I currently eat about 1900-2000 calories a day and weigh 158. I want to get down to 145. Any less than that and i wont have my hips & a.ss!!! And i dont wanna be completely shapeless.

I have no idea. I'm at my perfect weight, but I don't count calories. I just eat a healthy, balanced diet and go by portion control.

I take in 1900 calories a day, I weigh 141 pounds, and my body fat is 20%! My goal percentage is 16-18. I'm amazed at the numbers I'm seeing here.

I don't count calories, I just try to eat healthily as possible. I do have snacks, but in moderation. I just make sure I maintain my weight/body fat levels.
