Look up Josh McDowell's testimony. He was an atheist, and hated when Christians said that Jesus rose from the dead. He did an extensive research project; setting out to prove through historical records that the resurrection didn't happen. At the end of his search, the evidence that it was real was so overwhelming that he became a Christian.

I grew up in a Christian family, then turned away for almost ten years. I have felt true evil and true peace and goodness. I have experienced answers to prayer and demons. If there really are demons on this earth than there has to be a higher power than them. I still question parts of the Bible, but I find it interesting that I have been in church and not knowing the first thing about someone could sense the Spirit telling me a word of encouragement or something they needed to hear and have that be exactly what was needed at that moment for them. God IS real and the Spirit does work through those that chose to not be so hard hearted to listen. Funny thing was I had been reading a lot about the Da Vinci Code, and new age beliefs about a year ago. I had turned my back on God so completely that it shocked me as I was reading the paper one day to come across a qoute that said "Are you that gullible?" It was like that qoute was put there just for me. My heart knows God and always has, it was just getting past myself, my doubts and my questions to remember to have Faith again. God is awesome no matter what name you give Him.

This does not apply to me but the author of Chronicles of Narnia (Lion, Witch, and Wardrobe) was an athiest that converted to Christianity and became one of the most famous and trusted Bible Theologians. Some of his great books include "Mere Christianity". C.S. Lewis.

I pulled a Josh as well. However I didn't hate Christians, I just thought it was a fairy tale like most on this site. Turns out I was way wrong.

I'm an atheist that used to be a Christian. I really believed in God and talked to him all the time. He turned into my best friend, there was no one before God. In fact I think it kind of made me asocial. If someone said or did something I didn't like I could just talk to the imaginary friend rather than deal with it. Though this was poisonous for me it taught me something. You can convince yourself of all kinds of things if you're not careful. Be skeptical, even of me.
