How do you know what anyone thinks on a subject? You ask them. God doesn't speak audibly today (or maybe we just aren't listening) so, let's look at His Word. He said so in Romans: "This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God..." Ouch. That means that even if you are a "good person" true righteousness comes only through grace- "and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." See, even if you were the best, most perfect person in the world, you could not live up to God's standards, for He is a holy, righteous God. That's why Christ had to die for us- to take our punishment for our sins. His grace is what will make the difference- all the difference in the world. You could live a great, happy, truly wonderful life, but no one gets into heaven without Christ.

No, you can not get to heaven on good deeds.
The only way is through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Believing that he died for us on the cross so that our sins can be forgiven is what will get you an eternal place in our Father's house.
Once you are a believer, you will want to live a Jesus-like life...doing good for others and proclaiming the good news. (the Gospel)
Please turn to God and study the Bible! He made you, He loves you and He knew you before you were born!

I don't believe God wants us to worship him. I believe he provided the physical plane for those who have passions and desires of the mind so that these desires can be fulfilled. I believe in karma and reincarnation and that once we get knocked around enough on the physical plane and realize what a toilet bowl it really is ... then we begin to seek a higher purpose in our lives and begin seeking answers and the way back "home". Then the ascension back to God begins. God is patient and gives each soul as much time as they need.

No, I don't believe he requires worship and prayer.

Dylan,
God cares very much if you believe in Him. I think you sound like a person who once knew God and has backslid away from Him. Faith comes first, good works after. You can't get away from God; remember the story of Jonah? I walked away from God when I was young and thought I knew everything. He kept up with me, saved me from suicide twice, until one night I just had to kneel by my bed to ask how I could find my way back to Him by logic,,,He said,"you don't have to"...meaning all He wanted was my faith! You can do it hard(years) or easy, but I believe that once God has been in the heart of a child, He will follow you and push you and call you until you finally find Him again.

I'm sure someone will give you the long answer, so I'll just give you the short version:

Until any sins you have committed are paid for through the blood of Jesus Christ (requiring belief and faith), your otherwise good life will count for nothing.

Belief is everything, living a good life is something you should be doing anyway.

I also would like to recommend a good book (in addition to the Bible), 'A purpose Driven Life' by Rick Warren.

The problem with leading a good life is that we are not capable of leading one that is good enough to earn our way into heaven. As Christians we are nonetheless driven by our love for Jesus and our relationship with Him, to resist our sinful nature and lead holy lives.

God sent Jesus into the world to die in our place so that we need not recieve the judgement that we deserve. We recieve this free gift from God by accepting his Son Jesus as Lord and Saviour of our lives.

It's never as simple as that. Faith is a gift from God. It has been, or will be, offered to you. You can choose to accept or reject it. Of course rejecting the gift and hoping that just by living a good life is good enough is a huge risk. Only God can judge so I can't say what would happen to you. So, how you live your life matters, but it is not the only thing that matters.

Cheers :-)

The problem is that God doesn't grade on a curve. You might live a "good life" compared to others, but His standards are 100% perfect. And you can only reach that by having Him count His perfection as your own.

Treating people with respect and utmost compassion is the same thing as loving God. If you can love God through people, you can surely win eternal freedom. Your devotion is what matters. But, there is nothing wrong in having faith in God. You should have faith in order to acknowledge the higher power in life. God is giving you this challenge.

You can convince yourself of anything, but without any scriptural support, you're just being creative.

God has told us what he wants and expects of us. It's all written in the bible.

Don't make up your own reality, because if you do you're going to have a nasty wake-up call someday.
