Dale Earnhardt Jr. has never won a Cup Championship. In fact, he has won just two races since October 2004 and none in over a year. He might be rich, he might be famous, he might be more beloved than all the other current NASCAR drivers – combined – ( I still love my husband and jimmie more ) but sitting today at age 32, smack in the middle of his prime as a driver, he is also floundering on the track, mired in an extended slump.
So while you can never discount money as a reason he bailed Thursday on his dad's old company, Dale Earnhardt Inc., declaring himself a free agent for 2008 and sticking it to his stepmother Teresa, you could see in Junior's eyes that there was more at stake here.
Earnhardt Jr. needs to start winning again. Winning soon and winning big. His frenzied fan base might not be saying it (although his critics are) but Junior knows it and is embarrassed by it.

Jr is all those things above bt he is still jsut a good ole southern boy. I thinks he ppreciated his friends and freedoms more than racin. Back in the day Dale Sr had only racin. But now 32 years into his life he realizes that death can and is a part of his life and he may not need/want to die on the track.
If he wants to continue to psh this great sport forward then, yes, he needs to start winning. Bu to say he puts his heart and soul into racing 100%, I can't say that. When he blows up or wrecks, he takes it the same way I do when I have a bad day at the restaurant.

His desires need to be bigger and he should be pissed when he doesn't win. His interviews show a light that burns but not very bright right now. Hopefully this will chane by getting away form teresa. She may be getting a little greedy but I don't know becuese of course, I 'm not there.

Peace out.

Well if you notice, his slump started when all of this started to heat up, which it has been for a couple years now. You can see in his interviews how stressed and worn out he has been over all of this. i mean imagine yourself in the situation, and not only that but dealing with media making up their own stories and having to set stuff straight and answer questions about it on a daily basis. I think its shitty that Teresa let it come to this. It is a fact that Dale Sr built this company for his children, and also for them to one day own themselves. So when Teresa finds herself in a pool of hate by all the fans, she shouldn't be surprised. Another thing I'm waiting to see is how many ppl who work at DEI leave with him, especially since a large number of them are Dale's family-by blood!

I'm not a fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr., however I agree with what you are saying. I wish Dale success with his new company. I wonder how many of Dale's fans will continue to follow their favorite driver? To me, it shouldn't matter what company/team your favorite driver drives for, a true fan likes the driver no matter what team he drives for.

I am not a Jr fan but I have to say I am glad he is moving on. Theresa wants to have control of DEI, then let her. Who is she going to hire to drive for the company? The days of DEI is over with, without Jr driving DEI is like a dry pond.

I can only relay what I know and that is by his decision to split from his late fathers team Jr. is trying to find his own deals, according to other news reports he's tired of how his step mom (Theresa) is running his dad's company and would like to start his Resurrection.
Truth be told, he's washed up...He never had the killer instinct his dad did. It comes down to he is going to ride his "Name" to the bank, not the hot asphalt as his father did.
To each is own...and best of luck to him!

I think Dale needs to get out of the shadow of his father and his family and be his own person. He is popular because of his daddy and when his daddy died he replaced him with the fans. I think its now time for him to have his own identity, not one of a GHOST.........

I am not a Jr. fan, but I'm proud of him for doing what he feels is best for his career. No matter what he decides to do, I believe it will boost his career.
