That's so simple. That is because their parents do not care about their kids. That are simply bad parents.

I do not know this answer. Personally, I smoke only when I get stressed out, and I would be FREAKED if my parents knew that I smoked and/or decided to smoke with me. A lot of it is because parents are now trying to be more like best friends than real parents.

My friends mom used to let us all smoke at her house in highschool. We would walk there on lunch break from the time we were in like 9th grade. She also used to get high with us sometimes. Why did she do it, I really have no clue but I'm glad she did because when I got pregnant at 17 I didnt have to worry about who she would tell so I went to her first. Same thing whenever I had a problem. She was like my second mom. I don't think she was a bad person I think she just wanted to be the cool mom.

This question to me is a mystery. I can see both sides. One side being they let them because that they know that there children are going to smoke so they might as well be supervised. On the other hand I think they should try to discourage them. Maybe they having a mix of both, meaning while they are smoking with their children they are only giving them criticism about it. However, you can't call the kettle black and say something that you yourself are not doing.

I don't know, but I think it's bad parenting. Using the excuse, "there going to do it anyway" is unexceptable. Parents are suppose to set the standard for their children, not lower it. A parent can be a friend, but they must be parents first.
Edit: A parent who doesn't want their child to smoke should set the example by quitting themselves.

Because it is very hypocritical of the parent to tell the child not to smoke when they themselves smoke.

because they are letting them do it at home. otherwise they would sneak around. Or the parents are also smokers and do not want to be hypocritical.

Because some "parents" are irresponsible and pathetic. . . these are the type of people that shouldn't be parents!

Because they are too busy trying to be their friend, rather than their disciplinary parent.
