This Saturday i am attending an American wedding for the first time and do not know what kind of dress is appropriate. Please help. Wedding is going to be at a Catholic church and then a party at a posh country club. Should only the bride wear white? what's the rule?

Since it is a Catholic wedding, I would most definitely wear a dress. Somewhat conservative. A nice summer dress, long, maybe mid-calf. It should probably be a nice spring color or mixture of colors, but nothing too bright or dark. If the dress you choose has a halter top (which I wouldn't suggest) or spaghetti straps, definitely bring a light jacket or shawl to wear at the church. Most importantly, be comfortable in the clothes you choose and especially your shoes. Try to take into account the weather and the fact that the posh country club might be air-conditioned, this is where the shawl will also come in handy.
Good luck and have fun.

Yes out of respect for the brides day !!!!
No one should outshine her , you wouldn't like it on your day would you and you have another 355 to do that
What is your colouring ? I could only really advice if I knew that See my profile I have been trained in colour analysis,
How do you look in pastels ? or are you someone who is a dramatic dark brunette and looks better in Jewell colours why not treat yourself to a colour analysis they will also advise you on the best shape and material , neck designs etc .
For a posh country club I think that a very elegant silk or satin
stay clear of the lace the bride will probably wear this on some part of her dress , and PS wear a hat in a catholic church. a discreet one don't go for something to ostentatious the bride wont appreciate this
If i was to use my intuition Id say a satin column dress peppermint green or shade near Good for social club with matching jacket cut too flatter your figure .
Remember the best material , well cut and no peripherals always looks the best

First off..dress for the weather. If its going to be warm...wear a nice dress..light colors..but don't have the neckline cut far down. Be conservative with it. Or you could wear a modest length skirt and a nice top. Short sleeved is fine, just worry about the cut, not down showing tons of cleavage.

If you still arn't sure how "dressy" you have to be, you can always contact someone in the wedding, like the bride or the groom...they can help.

First of all, try to be comfortable. If the wedding is at a Catholic church, pick something more conservitive. If the top (whether you're wearing a skirt or pants) has a plunging neck line, wear something over it to cover. If you like to wear skirts/dresses, pick something that comes down to your knees (or close to them). As far as color goes, anything but white. =)

Don't wear white or any of the bright colors in the wedding party. Black is perfectly acceptable. But for the season something floral and flowy would be nice. Just not too short or revealing. And something comfortable, Catholic services take FOREVER.

wear a soft colored summer dress. light blue, yellow, pink.....you get the idea. White is okay but not all white if its mixed with other colors yes. Dont wear dark colors.

I like young ladies in jeans. It makes them look more city like and it doesn't appear to be they try too much but if you are looking to get this folks attention, this might not exactly be what you want

I really do enjoy putting on long skirts occasionally. They are really actually convenient than Trousers rather than as hot to wear also.
