I eat a lot of low calorie foods but they all seem to have a lot of sugar. Like I eat pudding that has 100 calories and ten fat calories but 16 grams of sugar. If I eat foods like this all the time is it going to cause me to gain weight or since it is low in calories will I be ok?

Depends on what kinds of sugars. If the ingredient in your pudding is corn syrup or just sugar, thats bad. Corn syrup, especially high fructose, is digested very quickly and is a major cause of diabetes if you have too much of it.

However fruits and other natural foods also have sugars. These aren't as bad for you.

This is a very good question. I have studied this out myself. Our bodies will burn a certain amount of calories, but the source of those calories can largely determine how your body will burn or store them. You will find that your body has a difficult time processing or using processed sugars and starches, much of which is found in the types of foods that you are eating. The best source of calories will be found in fresh fruits/vegetables, unprocessed wheats, and organic meets, etc. To help you maintain weight as you age, be sure to cut as many processed foods out of your diet. A good substitute for sugar is splenda.

I'm guessing that you consume a lot of low fat foods. when the fat is removed from food items sugars are used to replace it. low fat diets are not optimum for fat loss and actually can impede fat reduction. fatty acids are essential in the production of various hormones and especially the sex hormones. if the dietary fat intake for a woman is decreased to less than 20% of the total daily calories the testosterone production can decrease by as much as 33%. less test means more body fat and less muscle.

dietary fat is not the enemy, excess calories are and a sedentary lifestyle is.
